A new BMW 2 series coupe render has been posted, courtesy of Autoexpress. Although this render may give us an idea as to the general shape, size, and proportions, the BMW 2-series coupe is expected to have a significantly different look (particularly the front end) than the F20 1-series hatchback upon which this render is clearly based.
There will be no next generation 1-series coupe and convertible, as they will take on the 2-series badge instead. The 2 series coupe is expected as early as sometime in 2013.
Some days ago, we brought you spyshots of a special F20 1-series. With some help from our resident insider Scott26 we could identify that car as a BMW Performance 1-series.
Today, we’re happy to share the first photos of the final car, the “BMW Performance Studie 1-series”. BMW apparently showed this car during their dealer presentation taking place in Frankfurt, and three shots magically made it to our inbox. You can see the Performance front and rear bumpers which appear to be even more aggressively styled than the F20 M-Sport front bumper. Also present are the ‘love em or hate em’ performance stripes and a new Performance wheel in what looks like 19″ size. We wouldn’t be suprised if this car also had some kind of factory … CONTINUED
At this year’s IAA, BMW will once again be presenting its world premiere vehicles actively on a circuit in Hall 11 on the Frankfurt Exhibition Site. The successful concept of presenting the cars as they drive has been developed and refined, providing the press and the public with the experience of efficiency and dynamics through the products themselves. The combination of trade fair and event in the form of stage shows will allow visitors to become immersed in the world of the brand.
BMW’s highlight this year at the IAA, forming the heart of the exhibition stand, will be the vehicle concepts of the new BMW sub-brand BMW i. With the BMW i3 Concept and BMW i8 Concept, the BMW Group is presenting its visions for future … CONTINUED
Seen in these photos for the first time is what we believe is the F20 1-series with BMW Performance Aero Kit (front bumper, sideskirts, and rear bumper) with BMW Performance racing stripes. As with the prior 1-series, the BMW Performance program for the F20 will feature both cosmetic and performance parts, some of which may be revealed at the upcoming Frankfurt IAA show in September.
Which clues indicate that the aero parts underneath the camouflage are BMW Performance parts and not merely M-sport parts?
Foremost, the BMW Performance stripes are a pretty good indication. Also, BMW has already released images of the F20 M-sport model, so there’s little need to camouflage M-sport parts. Compared to F20 M-sport photos below, this test car’s front bumper is clearly a different … CONTINUED
The new BMW 1-series hatchback (F20) goes on sale in the UK beginning September 17. It will be offered with a choice of three diesel and two petrol engines. Prices start at £19,375 otr for a BMW 116i ES.
Fresh new video from BMW UK of the F20 1-series in black, which seems to suit the F20 much better than some of the other brighter colors. This particular F20 looks attractive as it makes its way around parts of London.
Insider Scott26 posts some more details on the upcoming FWD BMW 1-series models (based on UKL platform) which will join the RWD F20 1-series hatchback. In particular, information / speculation is provided on the 1-series Compactive Sport Tourer. Inside is a render which is said to be so close to the production version that Autobild was supposedly asked to remove it from its site.
The FWD BMW 1-series models lineup will include:
BMW 1er CITY compact
BMW 1er Compactive Sport Tourer
BMW 1er Family Activity Sport Tourer (FAST)
BMW 1er Gran Turismo
BMW 1er Roadster
Autocar has now posted their first drive review of the F20 1-series 120d hatchback. Overall it’s a bit of a mixed review. See inside for what we mean.
We’ve seen plenty of photos and videos on the F20, but how does it perform? Reviews are beginning to flow in from this week’s first press drives and Autoexpress has come in with their first impressions. Here’s how their first experience with the F20 went… read on inside.
