From time to time, BMW trademark filings provide clues on future BMW models. Our latest finding could be related to the recent speculation coming from both Autobild and SCOTT26. BMW is said to be considering launching a 2-series line comprising of the 2-series coupe (F22), the 2-series convertible (F23) and M-variants of these cars. These are essentially the next generation 1-series coupe and convertible, but renamed as the 2-series.

As seen in the screenshots from the German patent office below, BMW has filed “M2″ and “BMW M2″ trademarks just a month ago. The same goes for the US patent and trademark office (USPTO) where BMW has filed the “M2″ trademark. It’s important to note that a trademark filing doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll actually use it for a … CONTINUED

The F20 1-series hatchback’s online reveal is imminent - perhaps as early as this week, if not the next. But testing of the model’s FEP prototypes continues. This particular vehicle is the 5-door hatchback variant, which is the basis model of the 1-Series, and just as in the previous generation vehicle, this model will not make its way onto US shores. However, this car will serve as the basis for the entire 1-series lineup (and rumored 2-series lineup - More Info), with a 3-door hatch variant (also not expected in the US), coupe, cabrio, city compact, family activity sports tourer, and GT models (More Info).

BMW M will also have its hands at the new 1-Series and an M version should arrive 2-3 years after the … CONTINUED

According to a new report from Autobild, BMW is considering reordering the nomenclature of their model lineup for consistency. If this happens, all sedan, wagons, and GT’s will get odd numbers. All coupes, convertibles and Gran Coupe’s get even numbers.

In other words, the successors of the E92 3-series coupe would become the 4-series coupe (F32), the E93 3-series convertible a 4-series convertible (F33). BMW had similar plans for the current generation E92 and E93 3-series but got cold feet for several reasons. Now the successful introduction of Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is reportedly making BMW reconsider the introduction of a 4-series again, says Autobild. If this pans out, this may be the next generation 3-series and 4-series models lineup. See inside. BMW 2 series … CONTINUED

We bring you the very first look at the upcoming F20 1-series M-sport front end on a 135i hatchback, and it’s undoubtedly the most aggressive M-sport front bumper we’ve ever seen from BMW, owing to the integration of air curtain bodywork and deeply inset air inlets to direct more airflow to the air curtains.

The rest of the M-sport package has not yet been affixed on this car, but expect the usual set of M-sport wheels, rear bumper, sideskirts, and of course interior M-sport bits.

Besides the current testing of the F20 M-sport front bumper, here is what these photos reveal….
