CAR recently undertook a premium hot hatch comparison, featuring the M135i against the Mercedes A45 AMG and the Audi S3 (full review). Here’s how the trio stack up on paper:
The M135i serves up 320 HP and 332 LB-FT (450 Nm) from its 3 liter turbo N55 engine, mated to the 8 speed automatic ZF transmission and is RWD.
The Mercedes comes with the most power, but is also the most expensive out of this group, powered by a 360 HP / 332 LB-FT (450 Nm) 2-liter … CONTINUED
In this video review Autoexpress tests the BMW M135i against the Mercedes A45 AMG – with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine it’s going to be a stern rival for the BMW.
The BMW gets a six-cylinder engine, revs to 7000rpm but peak torque is at just 1300rpm, so it has instant power. It does come in manual, but we’ve got the eight-speed automatic gearbox. Autoexpress took it around our track in just 1 minute 14 seconds.

It’s price at 899-999 euro /
To say that the BMW F20/F21 1 Series front end styling is polarizing would be an understatement. Initial reaction to the BMW 2 Series front styling, revealed last month in our spy photos, have generally been more favorable.
All of which begs the question – how would the F20/F21 look with all or some of the 2 Series’ front end styling? And might the renders below preview what the F20/F21 LCI facelift may resemble?

The M135i hatchback will soon receive a sibling in the BMW lineup by way of the M235i coupe. They will share the same heart – the N55 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine making approximately 315-320hp, as well as the same transmission and other mechanicals. On paper, the two should achieve similar performance numbers, with a slight edge potentially going to the M235i coupe.
As for exterior differences, it’s clear from these comparison photos. Besides the clear form factor difference (coupe versus hatchback), the M235i gets an overall … CONTINUED

With increasing numbers of the M-Lite on the road, and ever more people taking delivery it seemed that is was time to put together a meet with the aim of getting a few together in the same place to act geeky, compare cars, options, mpg figures and so on (as well as have a bit of a drive).
So organised primarily by TMP, and some collaborative route planning we took on the welsh valleys … CONTINUED

Little more than a year before the EU6 exhaust emission standard comes into effect in September 2014, BMW is increasing the number of models that already fulfil the more stringent emission regulations. As early as in the summer of 2013, almost all models featuring the BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine will comply with the EU6 classification as standard.
