The next generation 1-series is expected to spawn off additional variants not present in the current 1-series lineup. Autobild speculates and illustrates the six 1-series models it believes are slated to introduced from 2011 to 2013, including 3-door, 5-door, coupe, convertible, sports van, and GT variants.

The BMW 1-series has achieved 1 million units produced after five years of production. The 1 millionth 1-series produced was delivered to its proud owner today at the Leipzig Motor Show, the Auto Mobil International (AMI). The car, a three-door BMW 118d built at BMW Plant Leipzig, was handed over jointly by Frank-Peter Arndt, Member of the Board of BMW AG for Production, and Stanislaw Tillich, the Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony, to a customer from Leipzig.

Get a load of this eye catching 1-series coupe. This “Power Green” custom colored 120i was spotted recently in Leipzig. The color seems to have been a special custom order as we all certainly would have noticed if this flashy color was in any BMW’s color palette.

Dinan tries its hand at building it’s own 1-series M with its Stage 3 135i. Dinan has pumped the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 up to 380 bhp and tuned the suspension to be more agile while reduce the factory understeer.

Berk Technology’s BMW 135i with GIAC custom software won first for the Street Tire RWD class, a new class track record and a new track record for a BMW 135i in the 2010 Redline Time Attack at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on Sunday. The Berk entry had a fast lap time of 1:58.839 and was the only one to break the 2:00.000 barrier.

Remember these spyshots? Looks like the photos were of a FWD hydrogen hybrid 1-series test car afterall, according to autoblog.nl. The 1-series hydrogen hybrid concept is powered by a 120hp 4 cylinder gas engine, hydrogen fuel, cell, electric motor, FWD and RWD!. The car operates on FWD on longer trips and RWD on shorter trips (RWD powered by electric motor). The fuel cell converts hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, which recharges the batteries. The energy generated from braking will also be converted to electricity and stored for use.

An ASR tuned 135i coupe recently achieved a very impressive 178.7 mph trap speed in a standing quarter mile competition. The run was made at the Top Gun Run in Florida. For comparison, a GT-R with full bolt-ons ran 174mph. Check out the video of the run inside.

As many of us know already, the next generation 1-series (internal chassis codename F20) has been testing for some time now and has been in the wintery European north for cold climate testing. While its no secret that the next generation 1-series would likely get a 135i variant this is the first time that we are seeing a dual exhaust on the car on separate sides similar to other cars in the BMW range such as the 335i and 535i. This may simply be a move to bring the 135i exhaust setup closer inline with those cars or may in fact represent a hotter car such as a 135is model.
