The Audi also offers the most compliant ride according to Autobild. However, once the cars hit the track, the tide … CONTINUED
BMW Driving Instructor Donnie Isley provides an account of time recently spent breaking in a 1M on the twisty mountain roads of western North Carolina. His enthusiasm is infectious and you can’t help but feel some of his 1M experience through his words. All in all, the 1M impressed him on these roads even more so than at the Willow Springs race track where he chaperoned the BMW 1M press drives last month.
From time to time, BMW trademark filings provide clues on future BMW models. Our latest finding could be related to the recent speculation coming from both Autobild and SCOTT26. BMW is said to be considering launching a 2-series line comprising of the 2-series coupe (F22), the 2-series convertible (F23) and M-variants of these cars. These are essentially the next generation 1-series coupe and convertible, but renamed as the 2-series.

The inspiration for the BMW 1M coupe is said to be drawn from the E30 M3. BMW likes to say that the 1M is the spiritual successor to the original M3. In fact, all of the engineers who worked on the 1M coupe were required to drive and become familiar with the E30 M3 during development. That’s how much BMW wanted the 1M coupe to emulate the E30 M3′s original spirit, while of course also accommodating for current safety required designs, customer wants, and reasonable build … CONTINUED

BMW UK has launched the first commercial for 1-series M coupe, which recently went on sale in England. The commercial features a valencia orange 1M coupe on some empty twisties in the countryside poised to swallow up some tarmac, followed by some serious driving. It’s rare to see tire smoke, much less drifting, in a BMW commercial, so the 1M is clearly being advertised by BMW as a model for serious driving enthusiasts.
