Here are the first photos of the BMW M235i Coupe which is currently making its rounds at dealers across the U.S.
The official reveal for the M235i and 2 Series Coupe will come later this week – October 25th (German time).
Months ago we uncovered much of the M235i by way of a set of very revealing photos (reposted below), but we now show you some more unique looks.
The first image shows the M235i bumper (on the left) compared to the standard 2 Series bumper (on the right). The 2 Series bumper is the same as the one spotted on the standard 2 Series prototype we showed you last week. Both designs look very sporty to us. The image also gives a great top-down look at the M235i and highlights how short its overhangs and tail end are.
Next up is the first look at the M235i’s undercarriage and shows us that like the M135i, it is not equipped with a limited slip differential (LSD) as … CONTINUED
As our newest photos show, the 2 Series Coupe (F22) sure has grown up from the current 1 Series Coupe (E82). The 3.1 inch gain in overall length and 1.2 inch longer wheelbase (see dimension/specs comparisons) appears to come mostly in the front, elongating the front end and giving the F22 a sleeker look overall. Adding to this effect is the less bulbous greenhouse which features a more raked window and a rear roofline that has been elongated and joins the trunk on a more subtle angle than on the E82.
Production on the 2 Series begins next month and it will have its public auto show debut at the Detroit auto show in mid-January.

The M235i / 2 Series is due soon and while we wait, it’s undergoing some final performance testing on the Nurburgring, where it’s said by BMW to be able to beat the 1M Coupe.
Klaus Froehlich, Senior Vice President Brand and Product Strategies at BMW recently revealed these little tidbits:
The M235i is as close a spiritual successor to the 2002ti that we’ve had. My initial benchmark was that it will be faster than the BMW 1M Coupe around the Nurburgring, which it is.”I have just signed off the M235i’s M Sport performance kit, which will include a proper limited slip differential. I’m just working out whether to make this an option on all models.

The 228i coupe will join the M235i coupe as the first two 2 Series models available in the US. Both models will begin production in November 2013, as a 2014 model year.
The following spy photos of the M235i shows you what to expect underneath the camouflage in terms of the car’s sides and the front end – with a different front bumper design of course.

A BMW 2 series prototype crashed on the German Autobahn yesterday evening. According to the article, the driver lost control of his car at high speed, clipping 50m of the beam barrier on the right hand side of the road and came to a rest after another 150m in the left hand lane. Furthermore, 4 other cars on the other side were hit by debris. Luckily the driver sustained only minor injuries and no one else was hurt.
Here is the M235i coupe, fully uncovered (save for the covering on the back). But, nearly the entire car is revealed here!
Non-fans of the F20 1 Series front design with its in-your-face headlights and blunt nose look will appreciate the much sportier 2 series coupe front end, with significantly sleeker headlights and grilles.
The front air intakes are large and aggressively shaped, with the fins that we spied in the last M235i sighting. As on the prototypes, the wheels are from the M135i, as are the blue M Performance brakes. Unfortunately, the hood shut line retains its position high above the kidney grilles.
