BMW has released a series of videos of the BMW X1 being produced at the Leipzig plant giving us a welcomed behind the scenes look at the production of a modern BMW. BMW has targeted 300 as the number of X1s to produce per day with Europe targeted as the primary market. Prices are expected to span a wide range correlating with the wide variety of engines available that should be available in Europe (18i and 20d up to 30i).

Using the same base X6 xDrive 35d (diesel), the two famed German tuning houses AC Schnitzer and Hartge have put together their own take on where to take these cars. And were glad to see that German magazine AutoZeitung has gotten their hands on both of these vehicles and thought to put together a head-to-head. Here are some more photos caught once again by the guys over at spyshots.nl. Its still unclear if this front bumper will be the standard new bumper on the X5 or if this represents an M-Sport edition bumper for the X5. At the rear, there will be similar matching changes to the rear bumper and LED taillights which would likely be the most obvious of all the changes.
A M3post member was stranded in Montana with an unfixable flat tire, but luckily BMW Assist proved its worth by coming to the rescue.
BMW has released english versions of the “Story of Joy” marketing spot (which was previously only in German) as well as behind-the-scenes video of the spots.
Seen here is the next gen Alpina B5 already in testing. That Alpina already has a F10 5-series to work with shows the close relationship that the Germany manufacturer/tuner continues to have with BMW. This continues a trend of Alpina having access to still-in-development BMWs prior to the models debut. We most recently saw the Alpina B7 in development prior to its introduction.

BMW insiders have confirmed that the next F10 M5 engine will be BMW’s turbocharged 4.4L V8 as seen in the current X6M / X5M, good for 555hp/500tq.
