This year marks 25 years of BMW all-wheel-drive, which first debuted in the the 1985 3-series. One in four BMW cars sold around the world is now equipped with xDrive. In addition, the number of cars from other model series specified with all-wheel drive is steadily rising. BMW currently offers 45 models in which xDrive provides variable distribution of drive between the front and rear wheels. These models extend all the way from the BMW X models via the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series ranges to the BMW 7 Series family of luxury Saloons.
Lately, BMW has been forging additional business relationships with other auto manufacturers. Autonews explains that one of BMW CEO Reithofer’s most important criteria for such relationships must be that they endure beyond his time as CEO.

Here are the first pictures of the BMW 1-series Cabrio LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) undergoing testing in Munich, with both the 1er Coupe and Cabrio currently undergoing filming and photography in Cape Town, South Africa. Like the Coupe, the Cabrio receives the latest changes including updated LED technology in the front and rear lights and reprofiled front bumpers. The bulbous appearance of the bumpers is enhanced by a fake panel covering the lower intakes , but the Active E Scoop photographs showcase the undisguised changes.
The German DTM touring car race series, to which BMW has just announced a return in 2012, will be coming to the US in 2013! The plan is to stage 12 races of this high-performance four door sedan racing series in the US beginning in 2013, races which will be staged with NASCAR and Grand American road racing events. Traditionally, DTM races take place on European tracks such as the Nurburgring and Hockenheim.

The E86 Z4 M Coupe is still one of our favorite late model BMWs, even in stock form. ARKYM has taken it to even higher levels of gnarliness with its full carbon fiber kit, consisting of a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, rear diffuser, and aerowing.

A Croatian company, VST Convesions, has put together this amazing electric 1986 E30 323 conversion. Owner Mate Rimac showed up at an EV builders forum to announce that he wanted to build an extremely fast electric car. Looks like he has done just that. The VST E30 BMW is faster than the Tesla! Its good for 12.1 in the quarter mile and lays down 500 horsepowers to the wheels through its bi-moto powertrain.
The car is painted in a custom green color and has graphics which resembles that of the BMW 1-series ActiveE car.
