BMW of North America and NVIDIA today announced a partnership that puts NVIDIA GPUs in navigation and vehicle-information systems across all next-generation BMW cars worldwide.
NVIDIA GPUs will power BMW’s in-car navigation systems to deliver vivid graphics with detailed terrain models, landmarks and a stunning new interface. NVIDIA processors will be found throughout BMW’s range of models, including the 7-Series, 5-Series, 3-Series, Mini Cooper line and X-Series of sports activity vehicles.

The BMW Group in the U.S. reported December sales of 27,600 vehicles, an increase of 16.9 percent from the 23,617 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. For 2010, the BMW Group in the U.S. reported total sales of 265,757 vehicles, up 9.9 percent compared to the 241,727 vehicles sold in 2009.
The aggressive fleet fuel economy average standards the Federal government has set for each auto manufacturer is something each is aggressively addressing. Starting with 2011 models, manufacturers must achieve a fleet average of 27.3 mpg, 30.1 mpg for 2012 models, and increasing each year until it reaches 35.5 mpg for 2016 models.
