According to the official BMW model production schedule (attached below), the 1M coupe will end production in December 2011, making a total production run of 10 months. The chart also indicates that there will not be a second (2012) model year. If recent speculations comes to fruition, the successor to the 1M coupe will be the BMW M2 Coupe, as BMW will switch the next generation small BMW coupe to the 2-series badge.

Le Mans, 10th June 2011. BMW Motorsport secured excellent grid positions for the 24-hour race in Le Mans (FR). In the third qualifying session, Augusto Farfus (BR) set the fastest time in the LM GTE class, recording a 3:57.592 minutes lap in the no. 55 BMW M3 GT. The second BMW M3 GT (number 56) will tackle the 79th running of the endurance classic from third on the grid. The current BMW E90 generation is soon coming to an end, including the E90 M3 sedan. Based on the official BMW production schedule (see below), all E90 3-series and E90 M3 sedan production will cease in October 2011. M3 coupe and convertible fans have some more time, however. The E92 M3 and E93 M3 will continue to be produced until at least June 2012 (along with the 3-series coupe and convertible). Whether they will be produced beyond June 2012 as 2013 model years is not yet known.

Moral of the story? Anyone interested in securing perhaps the last naturally aspirated M3 sedans, should place your orders in ASAP.

Shortly after BMW released the 1M, it debuted the 1M SafetyCar for the MotoGP series. Besides a unique paintscheme and some CF addons, the car was also lowered a good amount and sporting KW stickers. The writing was on the wall and we all knew that it was only a matter of time before a coilover kit was released for the 1M.

The coilovers are a Variant 3 system of KW’s kit, which means that the coilovers are both rebound (infinitely) and compression (14) adjustable along with height adjustable. Lowering ranges from 10-35 millimetres at the front and 5-25 millimetres at the rear axle.

KW claims that the new system will not only improve the cornering (especially at high speed) and aesthetics, but the comfort levels as … CONTINUED

We’ve spotted a black F10 M5 prototype conducting some final testing. It wears a minimal amount of camouflage and the least amount of cover we’ll see prior to seeing the production version. What you see is essentially the production version, including the mirrors and sideskirts which were not seen on the concept M5 model.

If you’re tired of seeing spy photos of preproduction M5s, you won’t have to wait much longer to see the production version. It will be revealed in just over two weeks time at the M Festival at the Nurburgring — on the night of Thursday, June 23rd (German time). Stay tuned!
