The production-intent BMW i8 Concept has been revealed today at a BMW i event in Frankfurt, Germany. The BMW i8 will be BMW’s first high performance hybrid-electric sports car. The i8 features a high performance 3-cylinder petrol engine in the rear, coupled with the BMW i3’s electric motor in the front. Total torque of 550 Nm (300Nm petrol engine + 250 Nm electric motor), moving around just 1,480 kg. 0-100kph (62mph) in just 4.6 seconds and top speed of 250kph (limited). The BMW i3 Concept city vehicle has debuted this morning at Frankfurt. The all electric vehicle boasts efficiency, technology, and performance. It outputs 125kw, 250Nm and runs from 0-60 kph in 3.9 seconds and 0-100 kph in 7.9 seconds. Its batteries charge in 6 hours using standard socket and just 1 hour of recharge provides around 80% of battery capacity using high a capacity charger. Its range is 150km. The new BMW 1-series hatchback (F20) goes on sale in the UK beginning September 17. It will be offered with a choice of three diesel and two petrol engines. Prices start at £19,375 otr for a BMW 116i ES.

AC Schnitzer’s development of a BMW 1M coupe tuning program is underway. They join tuners such as Revozport, Kelleners Sport, TechTec, and others who have sought to put their own custom touches on the small monster M. That so many tuners are developing parts for a short run car such as the 1M coupe is a testament to its appeal as a true enthusiasts’ car.
