Now that the next generation F80 M3 sedan has been both spied and confirmed, the natural next question is what will it look like? We’ve taken up the task of previewing what the F80 may look like in our new set of renders.

We received insider input on these renders and the feedback is that these images are generally a good representation of the next M3 sedan. The new distinctive headlight-grille area design is straight from our F30 renders and uncovered spy pics. The M styled bumper resembles the new F10 M5, which the F80 M3 is said to be a smaller version of. The F80 M3 will receive sportier mirrors compared to the F30.

Over the weekend, the M3 Ring Taxi was part of an 8 car pile up on the ring. Luckily no one died although there is one person hospitalized.

The accident was caused by a driver who came into the “Bergwerk” section at too high a speed. The driver slammed on his brakes, slid, and crashed into the car in front of him. His car then continued to hit two other cars also in the area. Three cars trailing this scene managed to slow down in time to avoid the accident, but the BMW M3 Ring Taxi could not unfortunately. It crashed into one of the slowing cars in front of it and then crashed into the pile of cars in front.

The pile up resulted in over 100,000 … CONTINUED

BMW Team RLL won a second consecutive manufacturers’ championship in the GT class to complete a 2011 hat-trick of titles. The drivers’ and team championships had already been secured two weeks ago with one race still to go. The last time BMW achieved this feat was in 2001 with the BMW M3 GTR. BMW only returned to the ALMS with the BMW M3 GT in 2009.

After a thrilling race, Dirk Werner (DE), Bill Auberlen (US) and Augusto Farfus (BR) ultimately achieved a third place finish, completing 367 laps around the … CONTINUED

Watch BMW pull a switch on an unsuspecting BMW owner. Accomplice: J. What was switched: BMW 1 Series standard specifications to BMW 1 Series with BMW Performance Power Kit and Silencer System. J. was the first person to nominate her colleague, K., for the BMW Switch.

The sweet window of opportunity availed itself to us when K. stepped out for an appointment. What did we do? We fitted the car park with hidden cameras, and switched her BMW 1 Series meantime. To dial up the drama, we deliberately parked our enhanced BMW 1 Series Performance at a different lot.

Her reaction was priceless. Watch it to see how everything played out. Nominate someone at bmw-asia.com/switch

Patent litigation seems to be all the rage these days among technology companies. Technology titans such as Apple, Google, and Samsung are all mired in patent litigation in efforts to block their competition from entering certain markets or selling certain products.

Unfortunately, this has now extended to technology used in automobiles - in this case, BMW and Audi. You see, BMW and Audis make use of the German company Osram’s LED lighting technology - technology which the LG Group, a South Korean company, alleges to infringe on its patents. Specifically, LG is claiming that Osram has infringed “on LG-owned patents such as LED chips and packaging technologies that are widely used in LED light bulbs and cars.” LG is therefore seeking of a complete block of BMWs … CONTINUED
