The crew at Top Gear has presented their 2011 Top Gear Awards, and host Richard Hammond has selected the BMW 1M coupe as his pick for the Car of the Year!
As he puts it, nothing else comes close to the BMW 1 Series M Coupe for steerable, chuckable, laugh-out-loud lunacy…
Check out Hammond’s full thoughts on the BMW 1M inside.
Vorsteiner has released its full tuning kit and program for the F10 5-series, which they’ve dubbed the VMS-F10.
The kit details are as follows:
VMS Front Spoiler
The newly designed VMS front spoiler has been specifically designed to fit F10 5 series vehicles with the optional M Tech package. The front spoiler not only creates a purposeful and functional balance to the front end but is also unmistakably beautiful and precise.
VMS Rear Spoiler
The VMS rear add on carbon deck lid spoiler balances the additional down force created from the new front end and also elegantly extends the tail of the factory boot lid to distinguish the vehicle from other standard production cars. The VMS rear deck lid spoiler is compatible with … CONTINUED
Have a look at a rare BMW Individual color - Santorini Blue. This Santorini Blue E92 M3 coupe recently showed up on the lot of a UK dealership. It looks especially sharp with the ZCP competition package and interior contrast stitching.
The first F32 4 Series / 3 Series coupe prototypes were spotted for the first time ever in October. And although it appeared in heavy camouflage, we’ve attempted to envision what the production form may look like underneath.
In producing the following images, we started from real life F32 spy photos (attached below) and combined it with some elements from the F30’s styling, along with some educated guesses and imagination sprinkled throughout. We’ll be able to better assess the accuracy of the image’s detailed styling elements as the F32 prototypes lose some camouflage, but for now these will have to do. *Now updated with rear renders.
The result is a production F32 with very sleek and wide width-to-height proportions, seemingly more so than the current E92 3 series … CONTINUED
The first turbo E90/E92 M3 build that we know of is underway. There are currently several supercharger kits for the M3’s S65 motor available on the market, but no turbo kits, yet. The S65 makes it difficult to place a turbocharger kit’s plumbing, and some tuners are also wary of turbocharging the S65 due to its aluminum construction.
But, South African tuning shop SAVSPEED has taken up the cause and its S65 turbo build is currently in the works. They’ve decided on a single turbo setup. As plumbing is difficult in the S65 engine compartment, a custom engine mount had to be designed. SAVSPEED has already run the turbo’d E92 M3 for 140km on the dyno and all is going well. … CONTINUED
Many of our site members have very impressive car collections, but M3POST member simonlam168’s likely takes the cake! As the title alludes to, Simon’s E93 M3 is perhaps just the fifth most impressive car in his current collection of autos, which includes: Ferrari 458 Italia, E93 M3, Ferrari 599, Porsche 911 GT2 (987), CLK63 AMG, and WRX STI.
Also on order and coming in April, just a F458 spider and a MP4-12C =)

This should settle once and for all the debate on whether the US spec F30 models have the ungainly front license plate mounting base molded to the front bumper from the factory, or whether it’s a separate part and therefore, removable. Many photos of US spec F30 3 series proved to be inconclusive in providing an answer. So we went Sherlock Holmes on the matter.
The front license plate base is indeed a separate part. The US license plate base shows up as part # 51 11 7 293 034.
For those curious, the European plate base is part # 51 13 7 279 708.
Those who were holding their breath over possibly having to export a European spec bumper in order to get rid of the unattractive license … CONTINUED
The F21 1 series 3-door hatchback has now been revealed via this set of patent images.
The F21 is set to be revealed as early as Spring 2012. Expect to see more powerful engines (compared to the F20 1 series 5-door) introduced with the F21. To name a few, we expect a 125i 2.0l turbo inline 4 producing in the ballpark of 220hp and a 125d to complement the 116i, the 118i and the 120d.
As expected, the F21 features a sportier look owing to the longer doors and rear windows, as well as frameless windows. Just like the F20 5-door 1 series, the F21 won’t be available in the US.
