This must have felt like Christmas for the folks at Autobild. Autobild knows what it takes to have a great story and has done a special edition on BMW M models, called “Fascination M.” In this special comparo, Autobild gives an overview of all current BMW M models as well as interesting insights into M GmbH. Most interestingly, Autobild pitted all (yes, all) currently available M models against each other on a German race track named Sachsenring.

The outcome? As you’d expect, the M3 CRT (it’s sold out but more info here) is the fastest M car Autobild has ever tested on Sachsenring as it clocked a 1:38.87 minute laptime (the M3 GTS isn’t available no more). An amazing second place goes to the brand-new F10 M5 … CONTINUED

We bring you the first spy photos of the BMW i8 production prototype model. Seen for the first time, this pre-production BMW i8 mule shows what the i8 will look like with production body parts and styling.

Comparison to i8 Concept Model:

Although this pre-production i8 tracks the concept version’s styling generally, as expected, there are some significant changes from the i8 concept model [official info/pics]. The front fascia has lost a bit of its shark nose front slant with a new lower front bumper design, which protrudes more than that on the concept. Also, the headlights have been moved forward to the edge of the hood. Autocar UK places Steve Sutcliffe behind the wheel of the F10 M5 for some BMW hoonage. Sure, a 560hp/501lb-ft torque RWD monster can drift, but the question here is - how far will it drift?

No surprise to anyone, the answer is FAR! According to Sutcliffe, the fast steering system and monster torque make the F10 M5 a cinch to throw around, and it shows in this video.

Here are some beautiful wallpapers for BMW M and M3 fans, from a photoshoot featuring 3 generations of M3s in colors which closely resemble the colors of the classic ///M stripes. Seen in the photos are: Laguna Seca Blue E92 M3, Interlagos Blue E46 M3, and Imola Red E30 M3.

For those curious as to the actual colors of the BMW M stripes, here’s some information on them:

Ok, so Playboy isn’t the auto enthusiasts’ first publication of choice when it comes to automotive expertise, but which of us with Y chromosomes can’t help but pay extra attention when Playboy is mentioned together with BMW :)
