The upcoming flagship M car - the M6 Gran Coupe, has now begun cold weather testing in Sweden.

It will directly challenge the 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG by utilizing the best BMW has to offer in terms of quality of materials and powertrain. The M6 Gran Coupe will be powered by the 4.4L twin turbo V8 S63Tu engine, but may very well feature a power bump from the standard M6 coupe and cabrio’s 560hp (maybe in the range of +20hp or so) in order to give it the leading power figure among all M models. Power will be delivered via a standard 7-Speed DCT transmission.

The M6 Gran Coupe’s premiere should come in the second half of this year (in the Fall) we believe.

Aftermarket tuners and fabricators are wasting no time in customizing and modifying the F30 3 series sedan. LTBMW has certainly wasted little time in customizing the look of their barely two week old Melbourne Red F30 335i. What you see inside features the following mods:

Front license plate bracket delete
Front bumper reflector delete
Painted roof
Painted rear diffuser

Custom lowering springs
5mm spacers all around

It’s been a while since the last F80 M3 spy photos, but we’ve now spotted the next generation F80 BMW M3 Sedan undergoing winter testing in Sweden. Compared to the previous spyshots, the F80 prototype has lost a bit of camouflage - mostly at the rear which now shows the tail lights in their full glory. The car’s appearance is low, wide, and impressive with massive fender flares. The M3’s kidney grilles are also very obviously styled in a sleeker/sportier shape than the F30 3 series sedan.

We also spot 4 piston fixed caliper brakes at the front and 2 piston fixed piston calipers at the rear axle, mated to the M trademark slotted drilled brake discs. BMW M’s newly developed active rear differential will likely make … CONTINUED

We continue our coverage of this past weekend’s Airstrip Attack. BIMMERPOST sponsored this past weekend’s Airstrip Attack, a runway shootout race event held at the Trona Airport near Death Valley, California. The event saw some of the most powerful European, Domestic, and Japanese cars from California go head-to-head on a half mile stretch of tarmac. The classes ranged from 400hp+ all the way to 1000hp+.

The following race featured two 335i going head to head - a JB4 powered 335i vs a Procede 2 powered 335i. Modification details for each car are listed in the video.

We’ll be posting many more shootout videos from the event, so stay tuned to our homepage for updates.

It seems that the 2012 M5 (F10) increasingly needs to look to full out sports cars in order to find the appropriate competition. Multiple outlets have already compared it against the Nissan GT-R and now Autoweek pits the F10 M5 against the Jaguary XKR-S in a showdown of two cars which possess both gentlemanlike and hooligan traits.
