The GruppeM Ram Air Intake System for the BMW F10 M5 has officially been released. The carbon fiber air intake system’s dyno graph shows peak gains of +15 HP and +30 lb-ft torque over stock.

The very limited production M3 GTS may be difficult to attain, so Japanese tuner Studie has taken a slightly more attainable (though still exclusive) model, the BMW 1M coupe, and given it a M3 GTS look, complete with fire orange exterior paint, black wheels and the high rear racing wing from the M3 GTS. The top luxury brands are increasing the incentives/discounts on older models in their battle for the top U.S. sales leader. According to data researcher Autodata Corp., BMW has increased incentives 6.9 percent this year, while Mercedes Benz raised discounts 11 percent and Lexus boosted discounts by a whopping 54 percent.
For the year, BMW trails sales leader Mercedes by less than 2,000 cars sold (through May), and leads Lexus by over 16,000 units sold. All three manufacturers’ sales have outpaced the U.S. light vehicle market’s 13 percent gain for the year. BMW year over year sales are up 14 percent through May.

The on-again-off-again BMW supercar successor to the M1 is now rumored to be coming in 2016, according to Autobild. Why so long? Because the i8 electric hybrid sportscar launches in 2014 and BMW would like to give the i8 some time on the market without any potential sales cannibalization posed by a successor to the M1. We think it’s unlikely that BMW will revive the M1 nameplate, but may instead choose a previously unused and higher identifier - perhaps the M10 (which was recently trademarked).
