BMW and Toyota announced last week their plans to work together on the joint development of architecture and components for a future sports car. Few details were given about the joint sports car, which set off much discussions and speculations as to the type of sports car that will be developed. Will it be a small coupe/roadster type vehicle like the FR-S / BRZ (co-developed by Toyota and Subaru), a larger sports car - the likes of which we last saw with the Toyota Supra, or something else altogether?

A BMW 6 Series Gran Touring variant is rumored to have recently received a green light and is expected to debut in 2014. This will be the fourth variant in the 6 series lineup, following the coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe. An M6 Gran Touring or M Performance 650d may also be spawned off the 6 Series Gran Touring.

A dramatic race at the Norisring (DE) saw Martin Tomczyk (DE) and Bruno Spengler (CA) celebrate another two podium finishes for BMW in the 2012 DTM season. In front of the very enthusiastic fans who numbered 135,000 over the weekend, Tomczyk crossed the finish line after 78 laps and the maximum race time of 75 minutes as runner-up his BMW M Performance Parts M3 DTM, just 0.687 seconds behind winning Mercedes driver Jamie Green (GB).
