Visual comparison of the F31 3 Series Touring against the Audi A4 Avant. What’s your opinion?
At the halfway point of this season’s DTM schedule, the race series put on an exhibition stadium race at the Munich Olympic Park Stadium. So what is a stadium race?
It’s a non-points showcase race event in the famous 1972 Olympic stadium where two DTM cars are placed on separate, but identical tracks, and race for the fastest finish time, similar to the Race of Champions concept. The faster car advances to the next round while the slower car is eliminated, until a final winner emerges.
BMW’s Bruno Spengler (CA) proved that he is right at home on the tight, winding circuit in the Olympic Stadium: the BMW Team Schnitzer driver finished third in last Sunday’s individual competition. Last year’s winner, this time at the wheel of his … CONTINUED
It’s been a busy few testing days for BMW at the Nurburgring and we’ve spotted the M6 Gran Coupe continuing its testing, just days after BMW acknowledged that the flagship M model will be coming next year. It will likely arrive as a 2014 model year and see its auto show debut at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit or the 2013 Geneva show. Expect the first details of the car to be announced online by the end of this year.
The M6 Gran Coupe will be powered by the same S63Tu engine as the M5 and M6, but possibly be introduced with a bit more power than the 560hp of the M5/M6. Prototypes have been spotted testing with and benchmarked against M5s (video below). A 7 speed … CONTINUED

We brought you the first photos of the 2015 M4 Coupe prototype earlier today, now have a first live look and listen at the prototype in action on the Nurburgring.
What you’re seeing and hearing is the F80 M3 / F82 M4’s anticipated inline 6 cylinder engine with multiple turbochargers, pushing approximately 450 horsepowers. The engine has been rumored to be an extensively reworked and reinforced N55 6-cylinder engine with a strengthened aluminium block with a heavily modified cylinder head. The Induction technology is said to be completely new as will be the latest bi-vanos variable valve timing. But, we also think that there may be a possibility that the engine turns out to be a reworked/enhanced version of a successor engine to the N55 (which has … CONTINUED
The final countdown to London 2012 has begun and BMW Group today unveiled their Olympic Park Pavilion, expected to draw thousands of visitors each day of the Games.
Conceived by an award-winning British architecture firm, the BMW Group Pavilion represents a significant architectural addition to the Olympic Park, showing an exciting range of the company’s latest vehicles against the backdrop of the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre. The structure also underlines the company’s longstanding commitment to design and sustainability with an array of individual rooftop pavilions exhibiting current models as well as concept cars of the future.
The Pavilion is light and open, appearing to ‘float’ on the river as water flows down the sides of the structure to create a constantly changing façade, whilst simultaneously accentuating its … CONTINUED
Electromobility is a topic for BMW since the 70’s. Have a look at the development of electric cars at BMW.
Of particular focus is the BMW E1 electric car which was introduced by BMW as its first all-electric car 21 years ago. It was a revolutionary car for 1991 which featured a rear mounted 37kW (49hp) motor, aluminum and plastic body construction. Its top speed was 72mph and had a 125 mile range. You can say that it is the spiritual forefather for the upcoming BMW i3 electric car. In fact, the i3 and E1 even share a somewhat similar shape.
But things have come a long way since 1991. The BMW i3 concept features 167hp and 184lb-ft torque, albeit with a shorter 93 mile range.
