This may not be the very first 3-series to M3 conversion we’ve had on BIMMERPOST, but M3 conversions are always unique and interesting to see. Beautiful and mint conditioned BMWs new and old were on display at the PNW 2011 BMW Concours d’Elegance over the weekend in Washington state. Run by BMWCCA Pugent Sound Region, this autoshow featured multiple judged classes, as well as display classes, motorcycles, new car classes, and race car displays.
This year’s feature model was the E90/E92/E92 M3.

The current BMW E90 generation is soon coming to an end, including the E90 M3 sedan. Based on the official BMW production schedule (see below), all E90 3-series and E90 M3 sedan production will cease in October 2011. M3 coupe and convertible fans have some more time, however. The E92 M3 and E93 M3 will continue to be produced until at least June 2012 (along with the 3-series coupe and convertible). Here are some videos featuring the autonomous driving BMW 3-series cars, which can drive themselves (and demonstrate proper driving lines, braking, and accelerating) around tracks for which they’ve been programmed for, including the Nurburgring, Hockenheim, and now Laguna Seca.

BMW has built a self-driving 330i that can take itself around Laguna Seca, and not at your granny’s driving speed, but at high speed track speeds. It turned in laps of just more than 2 minutes at Laguna Seca. The car uses GPS, on board cameras, dead reckoning, ECU data and navigation routes of the track.
