Additions to the BMW Performance product portfolio for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 3 Series and for the BMW X5 and BMW X6 are being presented at 2011 Geneva autoshow. These include, inter alia, the new BMW Performance sports steering wheel and the BMW Performance Power Kit for the current four-cylinder diesel engines. Also, the range of Original BMW Accessories being presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show includes the latest M Performance components for the BMW M3.

BMW returned to the Super Bowl broadcast tonight after a 10-year hiatus, unveiling a strategy that forcefully communicates two competitive advantages of BMW. The first commercial is a poignant piece focusing on BMW’s economic commitment in America as told through the voices of the company’s associates at its manufacturing facility in South Carolina. The second commercial uses humor to showcase BMW Advanced Diesel vehicles as a cleaner, efficient alternative to other types of vehicles.
In an interview with Automotive News, Jaguar’s global brand director, Adrian Hallmark, lets known that the UK automotive company is currently considering bringing a small sedan to market. This new sedan would slot in under the Jaguar XF and compete directly against the F30 3-series or the Audi A4/A5.
The last time Jaguar introduced a smaller sedan with lower pricing to take on the 3-series was with the Ford Mondeo based X-type, which had little success in the competitive compact sports sedan segment.

We bring you the most revealing photos yet of the upcoming 2012 3-series (F30)! Until now, the F30 has been fully cladded with little showing other than its general lines, shape, stance, and proportions. The strip tease has now commenced with part of the headlights now visible – showing beautiful LED angel eyes. The tail lights have now also been partially unveiled, showing a wrap around design featuring upsweeping light bars, LED indicators, and regular brake lights.

On the heels of the big BMW turbo 4-cylinder news yesterday, SCOTT26 has provided some dates for the switchover of certain BMW models from the current inline 6-cylinder to the new twinpower turbo I4 motor, as well as the end of production of the current 3-series, M3 and 1-series.

We reported earlier about the rumor that BMW was considering to build a fourth model at the US plant in Spartanburg, SC. Ian Robertson, member of the BMW board of management responsible for sales and marketing, now confirmed with FAZ that they were actually looking into this. Autocar Magazine in the UK is speculating that the rumored 3-cylinder engine that BMW has been working on for some time now, will be seen under the hood of the F30 3-Series. This should come as no surprise, as the 3-Series is the bread and butter volume car in the BMW brand, and such an efficient engine would go a long way into promoting BMW as THE brand for sustainability.

A new N54 tuning platform (for N54 motor based 135i, 335i, and 535i) has hit the market. The COBB Tuning AccessPORT is a hand-held ECU flash tuning solution for the N54 motor, allowing custom reprogramming of the ECU at the push of a button. N55 compatibility is currently in development.

Motortrend has posted its speculations on the 2012 F30 3 series, ruminating on the F30′s size, wheelbase, styling, suspension, and powertrain.
The next generation F30 3-series sedan is currently undergoing winter testing in northern Sweden. It wears the same heavy camouflage as the previous sightings, so these photos are best for determining proportions, size, and stance. Thus far, the F30 test mules spied have all had great proportions and stance. The F30 will be slightly larger and have a longer wheelbase than the current E90 sedan but features shorter overhangs to maintain sporty and squat proportions.
