These are purported to be pics of a very early test mule for the next generation BMW 3-series (F30). If true, the modifications to an E90 body are likely for chassis testing only, but hint that the F30 3-series will have a wider (and perhaps longer) wheelbase. Expect the actual final sheet metal to be different, of course. The F30 3-series is expected in 2012.
And please, please dont make posts such as “its hideous.” If this is truly a test mule, its only undergoing chassis testing and what you see … CONTINUED
In case you didnt see the other threads, I was at the Essen Motor Show yesterday. It is mainly an aftermarket & tuner show, so there are some amazing cars that people have spent tons of time and money on. It was a bit disappointing that Audi was the only mainstream German auto maker there (no Merc, Porsche, or BMW), but there were several M3s throughout the exhibits. Anyway, this thread is dedicated to those. Inside youll find AC Schnitzer, Brembo, Brabham, Rieger, Akrapovic, & Inn.Vent (never heard of that … CONTINUED
Ward’s Auto has released its annual list of Ten Best Engines for the new year, and our first assessment is that it’s just as interesting for what isn’t present as for what is. First of all, let’s get the official list out of the way:
* Audi AG: 2.0L TFSI turbocharged DOHC I-4 (A4 Avant) * BMW AG: 3.0L turbocharged DOHC I-6 (135i Coupe) * BMW AG: 3.0L DOHC I-6 Turbodiesel (335d) * Chrysler LLC: 5.7L Hemi OHV V-8 (Dodge Ram/Challenger R/T) * Ford Motor Co.: 2.5L DOHC I-4 HEV (Escape … CONTINUED

No matter how much people complain about each M3 getting heavier and more “fail”, its good to see it still a favorite! And for the 335i it’s very impressive considering a lot of people think the 1 series does the same for less money in a tighter package

After the recent unveiling of the facelifted BMW 3-Series Sedan and Touring, AC Schnitzer’s design team went back to the draw board to create a new aero package for both variants of the German firm’s best selling model. Well, believe it or not, BMW is already working on the next generation 3-series just as the new facelift E90s are coming out.
The 3 series accounts for about 44% of BMW sales, so suffice it to say its important and BMW has to get it right every time. BMW is taking its cues from the CS concept and will incorporate both dynacism and elegance all in one.
BMW will also go headstrong with their EfficientDynamics push with the … CONTINUED

yesterday a bunch of texas e90post members got together in austin for a meet and drive through the texas hill country. i think i can safely say that we all had a blast and the roads were awesome. there were plenty of e9x m3s, some e46s, e60 m5s, an e39 5, and, our fearless leader for most of the time/keeping us honest, an e30 m3. personally, i logged over 600 miles for the trip and spent the better part of 12 hours in my car…and that was just … CONTINUED
