The most recent addition to their F30 program is a carbon fiber diffuser that accommodates the BMW 335 split single tip as well as a carbon variant for their F30 m-sport front lip spoiler. Both the urethane and carbon front lip can be fitted with the carbon fiber under splitters.

For BMW, the year 2013 has got off to a really pleasing start. Readers of the trade magazine “auto, motor und sport” gave models of this brand the best rating in three different categories. The new version of the BMW 3 Series went immediately to the top of the highly competitive midrange segment, the BMW 5 Series once again defended its lead in the upper midrange segment and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe went straight to first place in the luxury class ratings. In addition, like last year, the BMW 6 Series seized third place in the category convertibles. Lexus IS Chief Engineer admits that BMW is the one to beat.

Motor Trend magazine interviewed Junichi Furuyama, the new Chief Engineer of the Lexus IS about the new IS.

“My mission is to overtake the BMW 3-Series as number one in the compact sedan category,” says Furuyama. “That is the way I see it. That is the task we are assigned.”

Furuyama admits that the previous IS fell short in the performance department.

An F30POST member decided to have fun with some Youtube videos and have an unscientific look to see how the BMW Activehybrid 3 stacks up against other hybrids - the Activehybrid 5, the GS-450h, M35h.

The Activehybrid 3 appeared to corroborate BMW’s factory quoted performance numbers and beat out the AH5, GS-450h and M35h.

The Infiniti Q50 sedan (formerly known as the G37) made its debut at the 2013 NAIAS this week. As in previous generations, the Q50 sedan is Infiniti’s answer the latest 3 Series (F30).

Like the G37 that it replaces, the Q50 will be powered by a 3.7L V6 outputting 328hp / 269lb-ft (compared to the 328i at 240hp/255tq and 335i at 302hp / 295tq), powering the rear wheels (AWD optional) and paired with a 7 speed automatic transmission (paddle shifters optional). There is also a hybrid model coming.

The Infiniti Q50’s four-wheel independent multilink suspension is made from aluminum components, with a single pivot double wishbone design in front and multi-link design with coil springs and Dual Flow Path shock absorbers in rear.
