The 2014 NYIAS press days are over and the public days have now kicked off. There were several exciting debuts (global and North American) at this year’s New York show, which we covered earlier this week in the following threads.
And here are some video looks at the BMW and MINI displays at the show, along with the BMW press conference.
Making its U.S. debut a the 2014 New York Auto Show is the 4-Series Gran Coupe. The now familiar Gran Coupe moniker means this is a 4-door sedan but with a sloping coupe like silhouette.
This is the first time BMW has attempted this formula in the small/mid-size luxury sedan format, but it does come across pretty nicely.
Prices in the U.S. will start at a base MSRP of:
$41,225, including $925 Destination & Handling for the 428i Gran Coupe,
$43,225, including Destination & Handling, for the 428i xDrive Gran Coupe, and
$46,725, including $925 Destination & Handling for the 435i Gran Coupe.
Watch the M235i accelerating against the 435i. Both are powered by the BMW N55 inline 6 turbo engine, but the M235i features 326hp versus the 435i’s 306hp. Watch the results inside.

The 4-series Convertible grows slightly in almost every dimension: At 182.6 inches, it is 0.7 inches longer than its predecessor; at 71.9 inches, it is 1.7 inches wider; and its wheelbase grows by 1.9 to 110.6 inches. At least it is lower – at 54.2 inches, which is 0.3 less than before. The 48 per cent front and 52 per cent rear weight distribution remains unchanged.
BMW says the open-top 4-series is “up to 44 lbs … CONTINUED

BMW has once again been named to Automobile Magazine’s coveted list of All-Stars, this time for the 2014 BMW 3 Series Sedan and all-new BMW 4 Series Coupe. In referring to this year’s All-Star award, the editors at Automobile Magazine noted, “The BMW 3 Series is a perennial Automobile Magazine All-Star award winner, with this being its eighteenth year on the list. For 2014, the 3 Series name refers to four-door models, while coupe and convertible versions get … CONTINUED
