BMW has been presented with two accolades at this year’s Fleet World Honors – Best Executive Car award for the 2011 5-series and Fleet Manufacturer of the Year award for BMW overall. Steve Moody, judge panel chairman, explained: ‘The new BMW 5 Series has taken the executive sector up yet another notch, with an engine line-up second to none for emissions and performance, generous standard specification, superb whole-life costs, class-leading residual values and a quality unparalleled even in this extremely competitive market.’
We bring you the first ever sighting (other than those who have already been given a preview) of an F10 5-series with M-sport package! As usual, the F10 5-series Msport package includes a more aggressive revised front bumper, sideskirts, rear bumper, and some seriously nice looking M-sport wheels! As previously reported, the 2011 5-series M-sport is expected to make its debut in October at the Paris Auto Show.
In a recent world premiere, the BMW F10 530d successfully passed a crash test involving brake intervention. Some feel that the F10 lacks an aggressive bumper. This will come soon in the form of the M-sport Aero Kit due to be revealed at the Paris auto show in October. In fact, the 535d M-Sport Touring has already been previewed to 5POST members at the BME PGA at Wentworth.
In BMW CEO Norbert Reithofers recent report (full report below) to shareholders, the CEO is reporting that the F10 5-series has received considerably more orders than planned so far. According to him, BMWs highlight of the year is most definitely the new BMW 5 series.
In the BMW CEO Norbert Reithofers report (full report below) to shareholders yesterday, the CEO confirmed the F10 5-series Activehybrid will begin production in 2011 and that BMW also has plans for a 3-series hybrid (presumably with the next generation F30 / F32 3-series).
Jeremy Clarkson has developed (rightfully so) a reputation as a bit of a sourpuss when it comes to BMWs. Thats why BMW owners take notice when he reviews a BMW favorably. And he does so very favorably in his review of the F10 BMW 535i, which he calls the "absolute best of absolutely everything we know." Pretty darn good endorsement if you ask us.
BMW has confirmed that U.S. will receive an F10 5-series diesel model. The likely candidates would be the 530d or 525d. In addition, BMW may sell a hybrid version of its popular 5-Series sedan in the U.S. as early as next year.
