On display at the 2012 Qatar Motor Show is the very first BMW F10 M5 in Melbourne Red. Melbourne Red isn’t offered as a standard color on the F10 M5 so this is a BMW Individual product.
It’s being shown with matt aluminum window which is part of the “Individual exterior line” no-cost option for the M5 F10.
At the 2012 Detroit NAIAS, we sat down and chatted with Oliver Ganser, the 3 Series Product Manager at BMW North America. As the F30 3 Series may now be ordered and will have its official worldwide market launch in just a few weeks – on February 11, we naturally had many questions for him (many directly from you, our members). Here are the F30 related topics we covered.
Are the aerodynamics of the F30 improved by the M-sport package, or is it only a cosmetic difference?
M Sport Package has same drag coefficient (Cd) value as the base models – 0.29 Cd for 328i and 0.30 Cd for 335i. Each F30 model has been optimized for minimum drag and turbulence and to create directional airflow. A … CONTINUED
We spent some time at the 2012 Detroit NAIAS with Matt Russell, M Brand Manager for BMW North America. Matt is a BMW enthusiast like us and is a BIMMERPOST member himself. We asked Matt some current hot M related topics and he was able to share the following.
BMW 1M COUPE
What were the final production numbers for the US 1M?
740 units. The very first one imported was the Valencia Orange 1M Pace Car which debuted at the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona.
Matt further expanded on the reason the 1M production run wasn’t extended into the 2012 model year. It was not due to any issues related to engine/emissions certification, but simply because BMW could not get enough MY2012 production to justify homologation. This had … CONTINUED
Seen here, at the Brussels auto show is the first sight of the F30 3 series M Sport looking great with the optional Style 403M 19″ wheels and the blue M sport brakes that we’ve been mentioning. Also being displayed with this F30 M Sport model are some BMW Performance and M Performance – an M Performance alcantara dashboard cover with carbon fiber fabric trim, a performance flat bottom alcantara steering wheel with red center marker, and performance racing pedals. Some F30 exterior BMW M Performance and Performance parts were spotted for the first time just yesterday. See inside … CONTINUED
For BMW, the BMW 3 Series is the focus of attention at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan is world’s best-selling premium car. Have a look at the wide range and the different lines, together with BMW Group Chief Designer Adrian van Hooydonk.
Here’s another highlight of the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the Active Hybrid 3.
Seen here in Modern Line configuration, the Active Hybrid 3 combines BMW’s smooth 3.0l N55 inline 6 and an electric motor for a maximun output of 335hp and 450Nm. It does 0-62kph in less than 5.9 seconds and returns 37 miles to the gallon. To further improve mpg there’s also an intelligent navigation system to optimize your routes for a hybrid. Unlike other hybrids the Actibe Hybrid 3 doesn’t compromise boot capacity too much (390 liters).
There’s no word on pricing yet, but if the just-announced pricing for the Active Hybrid 5 is any hint we’d expect it to be in the ballpark of $ 50,000. The Active Hybrid 3 will … CONTINUED
