The 2011 Shanghai Auto Show kicked off yesterday and this year’s show highlights the importance BMW now places on the Chinese market. The F10 M5 concept and the 2012 6-series coupe both made their world public debuts. Also being shown for the first time was the F10 5-series plug-in hybrid prototype.

The F10 M5 concept has made its first public debut at a 2011 Shanghai Autoshow pre-show press event. The F10 M5 concept has previously only been shown in a private event hosted by BMW M GmbH at the Garching headquarters.

The NYIAS will be upon us next week and there will be two exciting BMW premieres coming to the show: 1) New generation TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine and the first vehicle to carry it, and 2) New BMW 6 Series Coupe (F13).
The new TwinPower Single Turbo 2.0L 4-cylinder N20 motor has already debuted in the European X1 xDrive28i. At the 2011 NYIAS, this new motor will be presented with the first BMW model to receive it in the United States. The N20 motor features direct injection and valvetronic, and is good for 245hp / 258 lb-ft torque and 35.7mpg - all better figures than the 3.0L inline-6 motor it will replace.

Well folks, we’re all done here at the 2011 Geneva auto show and hope you enjoyed the coverage as much as we enjoyed sharing it with our community. Geneva is always an exciting show because of all shows, it’s arguably the largest in the world and always features an unrivaled number of exotics and tuning companies on display. Geneva is also traditionally one of the most important shows for BMW due to its proximity to BMW’s home market and prominence among the auto show circuit events.
