Here’s the first glance of the BMW display at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) which begins this upcoming Monday! Dackelone brings back his coverage of the 2011 Essen Motor Show, the European equivalent of the SEMA show. Aftermarket tuned automobiles are the main course at this event.
However, this year’s show saw BMW attend for the first time ever. BMW trotted out its latest Performance Parts lineup and accessories. On hand were the M Performance Parts M3 and X6M, as well as Performance Parts F20 1-series, E93 3-series, and X5.
BMW unveiled their new M3 DTM racer (with paint and sponsor colors!) to the public at the Essen Motor Show (Essen Germany) this past weekend. The show goes until December 4th, 2011. IF you are a “car nut” (aren’t we all!) you ought to go if you are in the area. Here are some pics of the new M3 DTM car and its rivals (past and future). The 2011 LA Autoshow press days kicked off today and while the headline of BMW’s display here are the North American debuts of the BMW i8 and BMW i3 (press conference to come later this afternoon), the F10 M5 is also making its public premiere in North America.
To mark the debut, BMW is showing a stunning Frozen Silver F10 M5, the first time that this factory offered BMW Individual color has been seen on the F10 M5!

The M Owners Club of Indonesia never disappoint with their Performance Day events, and their 3rd Annual Performance Day event from this past Saturday was no exception. Around 150 various M cars (mostly late model BMWs) were in attendance and participated in the opening ceremony, drag races, and hot laps at the track.

The AC Schnitzer 1M Coupe has debuted at the Frankfurt IAA. The ACS 1M tuning program includes aerodynamic, performance, and handling ugprades. The 1M’s power has been bumped up to 400hp (from 340hp) with an ECU software tune.
Cosmetic upgrades include a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, metal lower grille, vented hood, extra side fender gill, rear roof spoiler, carbon fiber rear trunk spoiler lip, and carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser.
The factory 1M exhaust has been replaced by a Schnitzer exhaust system with twin silencers. Factory … CONTINUED
The BMW i8 concept and i3 concept vehicles join the long list of BMWs making their public debuts at the Frankfurt IAA. The i8 electric hybrid sports car will launch in 2014 and the i3 electric vehicle launches earlier, in 2013.
P.S., if you look closely, you’ll see that this particular i8 concept vehicle has some early form of the recently announced laser headlight technology.
