As scenes from the latest installment of the Mission Impossible film series played on an 18-foot-tall, 39-foot-wide silk screen, the screen itself was whisked away to unveil the first concept vehicles of the new visionary and sustainable brand, BMW i – the fully electric BMW i3 Concept and the hybrid-electric BMW i8 Concept – from which Paula Patton, star of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and BMW President Ludwig Willisch emerged, officially unveiling the vehicles for the first time in North America at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The BMW i3 and i8 Concept vehicles represent the first purpose-built electric and electric-hybrid vehicles to be made primarily of carbon fiber when they become available in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

The 2011 LA Autoshow press days kicked off today and while the headline of BMW’s display here are the North American debuts of the BMW i8 and BMW i3 (press conference to come later this afternoon), the F10 M5 is also making its public premiere in North America.
To mark the debut, BMW is showing a stunning Frozen Silver F10 M5, the first time that this factory offered BMW Individual color has been seen on the F10 M5!
Frozen silver is among the range of BMW Individual exterior colors available for the 2012 M5. Here is the full list:

The M Owners Club of Indonesia never disappoint with their Performance Day events, and their 3rd Annual Performance Day event from this past Saturday was no exception. Around 150 various M cars (mostly late model BMWs) were in attendance and participated in the opening ceremony, drag races, and hot laps at the track.

The AC Schnitzer 1M Coupe has debuted at the Frankfurt IAA. The ACS 1M tuning program includes aerodynamic, performance, and handling ugprades. The 1M’s power has been bumped up to 400hp (from 340hp) with an ECU software tune.
Cosmetic upgrades include a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, metal lower grille, vented hood, extra side fender gill, rear roof spoiler, carbon fiber rear trunk spoiler lip, and carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser.
The factory 1M exhaust has been replaced by a Schnitzer exhaust system with twin silencers. Factory suspension is replaced by a adjustable racing suspension and the brakes have been upgraded as well – 380x35mm brake discs with 6 piston calipers in front, and 355x32mm discs with 4 piston calipers in rear. The BMW i8 concept and i3 concept vehicles join the long list of BMWs making their public debuts at the Frankfurt IAA. The i8 electric hybrid sports car will launch in 2014 and the i3 electric vehicle launches earlier, in 2013.
P.S., if you look closely, you’ll see that this particular i8 concept vehicle has some early form of the recently announced laser headlight technology.
