The Calder car was the first BMW Art Car in a 35-year tradition of turning cars into canvases. In 1975, Hervé Poulain commissioned American artist Alexander Calder (1898-1976) to paint the BMW 3.0 CSL Poulain to drive in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race. BMW continued this tradition and has sponsored 16 works from artists including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg. The Calder BMW Art Car will be on display in the lobby of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art from May 10 to May 21 to coincide with the opening of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Here is video coverage of the new BMWs being shown off at Auto China including the LCI 3-series coupe/convertable, LCI X5, Concept ActiveE, Concept Vision EfficientDynamics, 5-Series LWB and of course the newly introduced BMW Concept Gran Coupe
The F10 5-series recently debuted in Asia at a launch event gala held in Hong Kong. This particular F10 launch event appears to be the fanciest one yet, including musical and artistic performances and celebrity appearances. Even the F10 models on hand were the most decked out, with more wheel variety and some accessory parts.

Techno Classica Essen

I saw some really cool cars and a ton of memorabilia and collectables. I have been wanting to go to this event ever since I heard about it way, way back when! I am glad I went!
I tried to concentrate on BMW cars. But there was really so many cool cars it was hard to edit my photo essay. I am glad I took two cameras with me because my first camera ran out of battery life right as I got to the BMW … CONTINUED

Those of us who have seen (or will see) the BMWs at the New York Autoshow have apparently been viewing replacement cars and missing other cars scheduled to be shown. 6 BMWs were stolen in 3 separate heists from a NJ processing center and a private facility – a sophisto gray 550i, 535xi, 650i, 750LXI.
The 2011 F10 550i has now made its Canadian debut at the Vancouver autoshow. Shown in a space gray color, this marks the first time that the 550i has been shown in a color other than Sophisto Gray (Dark Graphite Metallic) as seen in the U.S. debut photos.
The 400+ horsepower twin-turbo V8 2011 550i (F10) (all details here) made its U.S. debut today at the 2010 NY Int’l Auto Show. It made its appearance in style by being driven into the spotlight during the press conference. Sophisto gray is a hard color to capture, but we think we’ve got some pretty good representations of it in our photos.
Here are exterior and interior photos of E92 335is coupe world debut today at the 2010 NY International Auto Show. See here for 335is official specs. The 335is was truly a stunner in person! Hopefully it shows in the photos.
