BMW will be holding a press conference today (Friday) at its U.S. plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina to announce significant economic and product news. The economic news will include the announcement of a several hundred million dollar expansion to the plant and the product news is widely expected to be BMW X7.

The press conference begins at 1 PM (Eastern time).

Speaking at the event will be:

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
BMW Group Board Member Harald Krueger – head of the global production network

CAR has posted its effusive full BMW i8 test drive review, which resulted in a full 5-star rating for overall rating, handling, performance usability and “feelgood factory.”

Here are some of the most telling excerpts from the review:

Play it right, and Eco Pro can extend the range over the regular Comfort mode, from 310 to 370 miles. Flick the gear selector left, to engage Sport mode.
