As you’ve seen, we spent the latter half of last week at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week in Monterey, California, which is an annual week-long banquet of events for automobile enthusiasts and connoisseurs who converge on the Monterey area. While the collection of automotive hardware (everything from some of the most expensive classics to the latest model exotics) spotted around the Monterey peninsula was the largest and most impressive gathering we’ve ever witnessed, the highlight of the trip for us was having the first look at the BMW M4 Coupe Concept, which BMW unveiled at several events throughout the weekend. The following is a brief timeline, our personal reaction to the M4 Concept and some interesting notes on the M3/M4.

The £100,000 BMW i8 is a plug-in performance hybrid due to be revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt show in September but evo was invited to drive a pre-production i8 at a secret test track in France this month, six months before we get to drive the production version. The patent drawings for the upcoming X4 SAV have been revealed and they preview many body panels, as well as headlights and tail lights.
The front bumper pictured in the diagrams may be an M Sport bumper as it features much larger air intakes than those seen on recent standard model X4 prototypes.
And while the production X4 will lose the hexagonal corona lights of the X4 Concept, the diagrams show that the X4 will receive a full adaptive LED headlight option (figure 3.2).
Over the past few days, we’ve brought you live coverage of the BMW M4 Concept reveal from Pebble Beach, but you can soon watch a M4 re-reveal streamed live from BMW CCA Oktoberfest in Monterey.

BMW Team RBM driver Augusto Farfus (BR), who had started from pole position, drove a flawless race in difficult conditions at the wheel of the Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM, and only lost out to the victorious Robert Wickens (CA, Mercedes). This was Farfus’ third podium of the season and the sixth of his DTM career.
Martin Tomczyk (DE) also coped well with the conditions. Starting from 20th on the grid in the BMW M Performance Parts M3 DTM, he battled his way through the field to cross the finish line fifth. … CONTINUED
