Just days ahead of the start of the new DTM season, BMW Team Schnitzer driver Bruno Spengler (CA) already has his first race at the Hockenheimring (DE) under his belt – although it did come at the wheel of a somewhat alien car to the Canadian. BMW Motorsport invited the reigning DTM champion and 1989 winner Roberto Ravaglia (IT) to a very special “Generation Game”.

Both drivers brought with them the cars with which they won their DTM titles. Spengler triumphed last season with the current BMW M3 DTM, while Ravaglia was crowned DTM Champion at the wheel of the BMW M3 in 1989. However, it was all change in Hockenheim. LB Performance, based in Japan, has released images of its E92 M3 wide body kit, which features bolt on wide body fenders and bumpers, front spoiler and trunk wing.

No other specs/details released yet on this widebody kit, but we’ll update when we hear.

The 2013 BMW M6 Gran Coupe has now begun arriving at dealers worldwide. This particular one just arrived at at Dutch dealership and should be the first customer car delivered in the Netherlands.

The BMW Group continued to perform well in the first quarter of 2013. Group revenues totalled € 17,546 million (2012: € 18,293 million; -4.1%). Despite higher expenditure on new technologies, increased personnel expenses and challenging market conditions worldwide, the profit before financial result (EBIT) for the three-month period totalled € 2,039 million (2012: € 2,134 million; -4.5%), the second highest result ever achieved by the Group in a first quarter. The EBIT margin for the Group was 11.6%.

Profit before tax (EBT) for the period from January to March amounted to € 2,003 million (2012: € 2,080 million; -3.7%). Group net profit came in at € 1,312 million (2012: € 1,352 million; -3.0%). The total number of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brand vehicles delivered to customers … CONTINUED

It’s not yet known what engine will power the upcoming BMW M2, but it’s been speculated to be either an inline 4 turbo turbo or inline 6 cylinder turbo.

Since it’s still quite ways off, we thought it’d be fun to start an official poll to see where the engine preference really stands among our members.

The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported April sales of 29,011 vehicles, an increase of 8.3 percent from the 26,793 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, the BMW Group (BMW and MINI combined) is up 5.3 percent on sales of 107,968 in the first four months of 2013 compared to 102,522 in the same period in 2012.

“The solid April results are a good set-up for the months ahead as BMW transitions to model year 2014 with a range of new models coming to market,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “Our dealers are reporting a sizeable increase in business and we expect to see even more in May and June.”

Like the M5, the M6 is also expected to receive a Competition Package for the 2014 model and we have spied it being evaluated on the Nurburgring. The M6 Competition Package should receive the same features and upgrades as the M5, which are currently expected to be:

• HP increase (approximately 15-20hp)
• Top speed increase
• M Carbon Ceramic Brakes
• Sport suspension
• Sport exhaust with black tips
• Enhanced steering
• 20″ competition wheels
• Carbon fiber trunk spoiler (seen on M6 only)
• Rumored to priced at 9800EUR (M5) and 12000EUR (M6)

The BMW Performance Center and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts today announced that the 560 horsepower 2013 BMW M6 Coupe will participate in the grueling One Lap of America event starting May 4, 2013. Instructors from the BMW Performance Center, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, will drive the 3,400 mile tour that originates in South Bend, Indiana and incorporates autocross, skid pad, drag strip, and closed course racing.

During the eight day event drivers; Mike Renner and Steve Maguire, along with more than 80 other competitors will visit Talladega Grand Prix Raceway, NOLA Motorsports Park, Daytona International Speedway, Carolina Motorsports Park, Virginia International Raceway, Pittsburg International Raceway, and the BMW Performance Center.
