Woodcliff Lake, NJ – November 1, 2012… The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported October sales of 32,339 vehicles, an increase of 18.5 percent from the 27,288 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group is up 8.4 percent on sales of 267,267 in the first ten months of 2012 compared to 246,602 in the same period in 2011.

The BMW Group plans to build a new plant in Brazil. “We welcome the new framework for investments in Brazil, based on the recently adopted “Inovar Auto” legislation. We have submitted an investment proposal for our planned new plant to the Brazilian Government,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management, responsible for Sales and Marketing BMW, at a meeting with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff in the capital, Brasilia, on Monday.

BMW has shifted tens of thousands of cars that were originally targeted for Europe to the U.S. and Asia this year as sales weaken in the crisis-hit region.
“Challenges in Europe are getting greater,” Ian Robertson, sales chief for the world’s largest luxury-car brand, said to reporters today at a company event in Munich. The region faces “a lot of bumps on the road” before it stabilizes and an auto-market recovery could take years, he said.

The BMW Group experienced growth in many regions around the world in September and achieved another record month in sales. With 177,716 (prev. yr. 159,223) BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brand automobiles delivered worldwide, sales were 11.6% higher than in the same month last year. It was also the best first nine months for the company, with sales up 8.3% compared to the same period last year. A total of 1,335,502 BMW Group vehicles were delivered during this time (prev. yr. 1,232,619).

The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported September sales of 26,660 vehicles, an increase of 3.5 percent from the 25,749 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago.
