BMW today announced several modifications to the 2012 BMW 1 Series Coupe that accentuate efficiency and premium quality. The unmistakable profile of the 1 Series Coupe, which represents the purest expression of BMW DNA is now sharper than ever. The new design of the front fascia on the 128i includes BMW’s innovative Air Curtain that counters turbulence near the wheel arches and so reduces the aerodynamic resistance of the vehicle. New exterior design accents have been incorporated into the headlight and tail light clusters. In the interior, new switches and controls have a more refined look and feel. The updated 1 Series Coupe will go on sale this Spring.

Now that the 1-Series coupe and cabriolet are at the halfway mark in their lifecycle talk has been brewing up of a midcycle refresh. And just in time, here are some new pictures of the upcoming BMW 1-Series LCI in Sedona Red. In BMW speak, LCI stands for Life Cycle Impulse and denotes a "facelift" for the car. Current rumors point to a December 2010 Official Reveal for the 1-Series LCI alongside the release of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. There is no 1-series GTS, but Parkview BMW has put together its own version. They started off with the hot Fire Orange color from the M3 GTS and complimented it with a full array of 1-series BMW Performance Parts. The GTS logos are a bit much for us, but the overall result is a hot little coupe we’d love to see BMW actually produce.
1-series owners are an addicted bunch. So much so that the car inspired Stewart Hendler and Pascal Remond to script and film this great short film / fictional commercial about the 1-series hatchback.
