BMW starts 2014 with four awards from the automobile magazine “auto motor und sport”. The BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.6-0.0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 13–0 g/km), BMW 4 Series Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 8.4-4.6 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 197-121 g/km), and BMW 5 Series (combined fuel consumption: 9.6-4.5 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 224–119 g/km) were the winners in their respective categories. The BMW i3 was also recognised by the editors-in-chief of “auto motor und sport” as well as more than 30 international partner automobile magazines worldwide for its highly innovative technology with the “International Paul Pietsch Award”. Munich. From the spring of 2014, the pleasure of driving can be experienced in a whole new dimension. BMW is extending its range of engines for the latest additions to the model portfolio and is presenting at the same time four further models equipped with BMW xDrive. The intelligent four-wheel drive system, for example, will be available for the first time in the BMW 4 Series Convertible. In addition, an extensive BMW Individual programme will be on offer for the BMW 4 Series from the spring of 2014.

Ward’s Auto has announced the winners of its 10 Best Engines Award. BMW’s N57 3.0L Turbodiesel Inline-6 was named as one of the 10 winners.

The N57 in the 535d outputs 255 hp @ 4000 rpm and 413 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm, while getting EPA MPG of 26/37-38 mpg (city/highway).

Of the 10 winners, 8 featured direct fuel injection, 6 were forced induction and 1 was electric.

BMW 5 Series Sedan and 5 Series Gran Turismo:

Updated design and new equipment: Fresh contour lines for the surround of the BMW kidney grille and redesigned lower air intakes reinforce the sporty appearance of the 2014 BMW 5 Series Sedan. The accentuated width of the rear end is underlined by an extra crease in the apron, as well as slim, sharply contoured and therefore more striking rear lights.

Delivery of N20 and N26 powered vehicles stopped as a result of power brake assist problem

On September 26th, BMW of North America announced to NHTSA its intention to conduct a voluntary Recall on certain 2012-2014 model year BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, X1, X3 and Z4 models equipped with the N20 or N26 engine, produced from May 2012 to August 2013.

Affected vehicles in dealer inventories will not be sold or delivered to customers until the recall repair has been performed. Vehicles at BMW vehicle delivery centers will be corrected before shipment to dealerships.

The Problem:
The oil supply from the intake camshaft to the brake vacuum pump can become restricted. If this happens the brake vacuum pump could fail due to lack of lubrication, resulting in … CONTINUED

The BMW ConnectedDrive range of features is set to gain even further in appeal and variety in autumn 2013 with the introduction of a fresh round of innovations which further enhance comfort, safety and therefore also driving pleasure.
