Great news for those M5 and M6 owners affected by the faulty oil pump recall. Less than two weeks after the recall was announced, the first oil pump replacements are underway and completed. The first M5POST member has just shared that his replacement pump is in and his M6 already on its way back to him.
EAS has dynoed a 2013 M6 DCT coupe. The M6 with its S63Tu motor is rated from the factory at 560hp / 502 lb-ft torque. This particular M6 put down a max 503hp / 488lb-ft torque (SAE) at the rear wheels. This was achieved on regular 91 octane pump gas and a Dynojet 224xLC.
There are still slots open for free dynos, so check inside if you are from the SoCal area and would like to run your F10 M5 or F12/F13 M6 on the dyno.
The BMW M display at this year’s 2012 Paris auto show featured the latest M models to be released - the F10 M5 and F12 M6 coupe. What you see is the 2013 M6 in Sakhir Orange, its launch color. The 2013 M5 wears Frozen Grey, a BMW Individual color which looked excellent under the show lights. Also on display was the M5/M6’s monster 560hp V8 twin turbo S63Tu engine.
Most of you have read about the M5, M6 and S63Tu specs repeated times already, but for reference or as a refresher, see the official info threads linked inside.
We provide you an update on the BMW M5 and M6 oil pump issue, including a preview of recall process and details. There is also a VIN number list for you to check your M5/M6 against to see if you are affected.
BMW has issued a delivery stop order on all 2013 M5 and M6 (coupe and convertible). The issue stems from a potential problem with the engine oil pump on certain S63Tu engine equipped cars. Vehicles equipped with an affected pump could experience a sudden loss of oil pressure which will result in engine damage.
BMW is recommending current M5 and M6 owners not drive the vehicle. Stay tuned for updates.
Through a joint agreement with M5POST, eas has allocated 10 baseline dyno sessions to BIMMERPOST members - free of charge for F10 M5 or F12/F13 M6 owners. So if you are in the Souther Califonia region, be sure to sign up and get some readings on your car’s S63Tu engine’s true power level.
