I have ordered 330i with jet black exterior. I have been informed by a friend who has had a number of black autos that I would have been much better off with the metallic black ... as far as the car showing dirt and frequency of cleaning
Looking for another opinion. Is the jet black that much of a difference. Which has better overall apearence when cleaned up

This is one of those crazy mysteries when it comes to cars..ive had both. The better one depends on what you want out of your car..The jet black, looks a lot better IMO when you are dealing with contrast, and want a "blacker' look..It is a really deep color, and is great with clear lenses, chrome, etc..
The mettalic is beautiful after it had been waxed and gives you a real satisfaction after a couple hours of Zaino'ing...the chips in the paint really refelct off of lights as well
Call me silly, but it comes down to one thing for me..If you live, and or frequent the city, in other words, where there will be considerable nightime driving in lit up areas, get mettalic..if you do mostly daytime, or country driving Id get the jet...I know, Im nuts..

Thank you for that quide... my main question is which shows the dirt the most and which one begins to show it quicker between washings.

Oops! Sorry...The answer is jet black. hands down. The reason is because the mettalic helps mask the dirt..With jet black, all you have is dirt, and black...

I have a sapphire E46 and imo it essentially shows as much dirt as jet black. I think the advantage with this metallic black has to do with scratches and swirl marks. Jet black will show EVERYTHING.
btw is use Klasse AIO/SG.

After having gotten a couple of scratches at the supermarket by some unknown *&^@&#%, I wish I had gone with the titanium. Wouldn't have shown up on that since they're hairline.

My opinion is when they do eventually get dirty, the Sapphire seems to look worse actually, even though the Jet Black might get dirtier faster.
The Sapphire looks really dusty/greyish when dirty.
