You only need the lever, but if I were you I'd order the plastic cup and the circlip too.

BMW now has an E90/91/92/93 328i specific SSK - 25110430359. The individual shift linkage parts from this kit are: 25117542200 - lever, 25111220600 - bearing, 25111220379 - circlip. We've updated the "lever only" special on our website as seen here (http://www.mileoneparts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=AccessoryCatalog&siteid=214336&catalogid=4462&categoryid=104047&startrow=51).

Evan, Whats the difference between 25110434219 and 25117542200? Are they both not the SSK levers?

Evan, Whats the difference between 25110434219 and 25117542200? Are they both not the SSK levers?

They are both short shift levers from the two different short shift kits. The 25117542200 if from the E90/91/92/93 328i SSK, and the 25110434219 is from the older E90 330i SSK. Most people have been retrofitting (at their own risk) the 25110434219 lever to their 335i's with no problem. There is a DIY thread on here about it. :)

Hey, need some help. I went to put in my SSK today pn 25117542200 as said above for my e90 328i. As you can tell the "SSK" is significantly LONGER than the OEM shifter lever. Thoughts? Help??

Any hunch on how easy it would be to remove the gear lever cover to illuminate? Something like this DIY?

Or even better, is there an //M lighted version? I'm trying to avoid just ordering the lever and buying the lighted knob elsewhere.

You can order the lever, circlip, and bearing separately by going to our website @ www.getbmwparts.com and clicking on "PARTS". Then, key the part numbers listed below in under the "Search By Part Number" function and add them to your cart:

335i Shift Lever 25110434219 $60.00

Bearing 25111469397 $6.48

Circlip 25111220379 $0.62

Only if you have a crappy dealership.

Shouldn't. I told my dealership I installed mine and they made sure it was on correctly for free.

Being that these kits are just as OEM BMW as the stock shifter mechanisms, there will be no issues with warranty. If there are any issues whatsoever, find another dealership and contact BMWNA immediately.

So I just had the Shift Lever installed (25110434219) at the BMW dealership but I didn't specify to install the new Bearing and Circlip. Would they have had to have installed these in order for this to work? Because my 1-2nd gear shift sucks! (the rest are pretty smooth)

No that would be because you still have your CDV in. Do search on that. SSK won't make your shifts smoother, makes the travel shorter and is more percise (notchy) and actually requires a tiny put of more effort to get into each gear.

Another question, I've heard some people say their shift knob is not centered, when the car is in neutral. Is this true? I really want to get this, but I just want to make sure my knob is to the left or right. Also, what parts do I need if I tend to keep my M knob and boot?

The reply I got back was that us 328xi's can use the 328i's. I received my kit yesterday and plan on installing it tomorrow. I'll post pics once installed.

I did the install with the help of a friend of mine this weekend on my e92 328xi. We used the simple method described in http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106829 and did not need to get under the car nor remove the console pieces. It was about a 30 to 45 minute job.

My shifter sits normally with Neutral pretty much at center. Some say that if yours sits lower and to the right, that you may have installed the lever the opposite way around (you just need to turn it 180 degrees).

My only gripe is that the 328i lever is longer than the stock lever. Other 328 owners have posted this observation as well. Because of the ball bearing position/angle, it did improve the throws a little bit and made them feel only a tad quicker. I'm leaning to try what others like forum member Autobot did and replaced the 328i ss lever with the 330i one...which is noticeably shorter.

**Recap**

Many have used the 330i short shift lever in their 328's and 335's w/ great results. From what we are told it is a shorter lever with even shorter throws! The 328i lever also works well, but is about the same length as the stock lever (if not a bit longer). Both are on special here (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=AccessoryCatalog&catalogid=4462&siteid=214672&categoryID=104047)! We recommend purchasing a new bearing and circlip with whichever ss lever you order. To do this, just add part # 25111469397 ($6.48) and 25111220379 ($0.54) to your cart before checking out.

If you're looking for the full BMW Performance Short Shift Kits that include the Peformance Shift Knob, Alcantara Leather Boot, ss lever, bearing ,and circlip, we run these on special here (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=AccessoryCatalog&siteid=214672&catalogid=4462&categoryid=104047&startrow=51) as well!

Thanks for your continued business and support!

How much short is the SSK from the 330i? The one thing I cant stand about my brand new 335i is how long the shifts are. My old car, a 94 Escort, had a SSK in it and I loved the short throws. These long ones are pointless.

It makes a nice difference for the price, but the complete 335i kit w/ the shifter arm is reportedly much better. Either way, you're looking at an improvement over stock - so you can't go wrong!
