Active Autowerke

Active Autowerke is pleased to release a New Active Processor to the public. This is a "piggy back" ecu for the 335 ,535, and 135 model BMW. This unit replaces the Xede unit we had introduced with Chip Torque a year ago. Be assured all BMW Xede units in the field from Active still has the Active and Chip Torque support.
With our continuous pursuit for new Quality technology at economical pricing we have found a new partnership with AEM ( Advanced Electronic Management, a USA leader in electronic technology) enabling us to bring even more economic fairness and quality to the marketplace. Our Active Processor features Digitial Technology with 3-d mapping capability that allows our tuners to maximize your potential gains while making sure your car is still running well within its "safe" limits. The Active Processor also has the capability to be uploaded on the workbench without a wire harness, all that is necessary is a USB cable and a PC with the accompanying "upload" software. Active Autowerke has also implemented a map switching feature (at no extra cost, switch included) which allows the user to switch between maps whether it be a custom map or our basic Stage 1.5 performance map. The Active Processor includes a custom harness kit with detailed installation instructions as well. This unit comes pre loaded with our Stage 1.5 software on our proprietary V3 firmware and is compatible on all current production 335, 535 and 135's. As far as the gains are concerned they are on par with our previous system, gains of 85 HP and roughly 85 ft lbs of torque.
These Units are Available for Pre-Order and will begin shipping within 2 weeks (at the latest).
Introductory Price ( $695.00 ) (Includes Switch, hardware, instructions) .
To place your order please contact one of our sales representatives @ 305.233.9300. This product will be available on our site on Monday.
If you do not wish to pre order they will be available for purchase in roughly 2 weeks. Pre Order is strongly suggested to assure quickest delivery.

Eugen,
We are not going to work on any "high HP" maps, for cars with ugprades ie: intercooler & downpipes, we may have different variations. We will also continue race gas map development with a few a local cars and our personal car. As far as the datalogging software, we will not be including that at this time. Thank you for the congratulations Sir.

Dear Omar,
Thank you for your feedback.
I am still looking for a flat torque curve, a 350whp/350wtq tuning. The 380+ wtq are not needed for the max. hp and will stress the 6AT transmissions without big benefits. Are there any chances to get such a map for the AA processor ? I own my car and reliability is my primary goal beside adequate performance improvements.
Kind Regards,
Eugen

Holy shit! Vishnu needs to do something about their pricing, especially with AA and Helix priced at $700-800.
Looks like Vishnu is playing as a "leading edge" developer - get in early, leave before price erodes in the marketplace, judging from traffic in this forum vs what's reported in the new EVO forums. Legit strategy as a business, but some early adopting customers could feel left behind.
More on topic - it's awesome to see great gains and reliability being brought to the E9x crowd at more reasonable prices! Thanks to all vendors who work (and compete) to bring quality up and price down over time.

It's not only price. See, I am using the JB2H currently. Dropped it in and never got any problems. AA is famous for their quality as well. Helix has to be rolled out now, but it looks very good as well. I am very curious with what Jim Conforti will show up. We currently only have one vendor left who seems to ignore the basic market rules.

That may be; however, if you are talking about who I think you are talking about, that vendor has the most advanced product on the market at the moment.
I really like how AA does things. Its the company with the least ammount of BS. I also trust their products to be safe for my car (just like Dinan but without the warrantee). For people who just want more reliable power, AA is the way to go. For people like me, who want to have all the toys and power, this tune looks to be pretty limited.

As soon as I get my 335 back I'll be driving down to miami (from boca)

Advanced shouldn't mean throwing CEL's, not coming out with FMIC/DP maps that were discussed AGES ago, and not having on the fly switchable maps. That's price and service aside.

There are 3 options you have:
1) let the USB cable hang out of the ECU box. I did this with a different piggyback.
2) route the USB cable to your glovebox. DIY's are available on the forum.
3) route the USB cable to the OEM USB connector location, if you don't have this option installed. DIY available on the forum as well.

How does this "active processor" compare in technology and effectiveness to the xede or even to the Procede sold by vishnu tuning?
I expect it will be technically up to date ( better than the Procede, more I/O's, faster CPU ?, more tuning cells = better granularity for load / rpm settings ) compared to Procede V2. It will be a milder tune. The power output will be between JB2H and Procede V2. All other differences depend on the AA implementation, where I think they know their job ;) . Reliability is important for AA, as it is for me :) . Probably the "Dinan-Tune" of the piggybacks. IMO, the unit is able to handle TPS input. No idea whether this is implemented in the first map release already.

It adapted very qickly and gave me a solid 14.5psi boost immediately

Sure, I will do. I just don't plan to perform a test for all available tuning platforms ;) .
The JB2H is a very good tune, there is just the remaining thing with the missing ignition control. The AA Active processor provides full control over fuel and boost parameters and ignition as well. It does not make much more power than a JB2H and provides the ability to upgrade the firmware and maps, areas where e.g. the Attaché lacks. I guess this will be a very good product in the moderate, reliable N54 ECU tuning category where I am looking in.
More to come soon.

That dyno graph is nice, but could you please post the original base dyno so we as a community can see the gains and deltas, thank you.
Additionally, great price/point and aggression, I like a company that doesn't rest on it's laurels. Competition is good, wonder how Vishnutuning is going to react, or even if they can sell Procede at $700 !!
I would also like to extend a thanks to Active Autowerks for not over-hyping this products months before it was officially ready. Thus, leaving countless debates for months about vaporware instead of a tangible product. Nice 1, 2 punch!

True. The JB2H is a great tune. There is the missing ignition control part, which nails you down to use 93 octane gas. Fixing this, would make the JB# as expensive as other tunings. A no-go.
Just placed my order for the AA Processor with the K&N drop-in filter. I can't wait to get it installed and start testing it out! I'll be sure to post my impressions. One question I forgot to ask, if we are stuck with 92 octane here, should I have requested the 91 octane map or will it just adapt automatically?

My guess is 1 - 1.5 hours when you are familiar with installing a piggyback in the 335i. I took my time when I installed my previous PROcede for the first time ( ~ 3 hours ). I always disconnect the car's battery when I work inside the ECU box.

Your PM has been replied to.
I will reply here as well.
Our current map has proven to work with intercooler, exhaust, and downpipes. If your car reacts to them differently we do have the ability to modify the maps.

Hi AA,
What is the maximum boost on 93 octane with your current tune?
Can we expect more aggressive maps on stock setup and 93 octane with your tune?
Thanks

AA tunings are not that maxed out as other piggybacks. When you like more aggressive tunings I'm sure you will find companies who provide them on the forum. AA has it's good name due to reliable products. A good reason for me to use their products.

I'm curious why you keep saying this won't be as powerful?? Its max boost is at 14.7, basically same as procede, and higher than helix, jb2..

So AA's software is only for stock + exhaust?
I'm ready for the map for DP/exhaust/FMIC/CAI/BOV

There are 3 options you have:
1) let the USB cable hang out of the ECU box. I did this with a different piggyback.
2) route the USB cable to your glovebox. DIY's are available on the forum.
3) route the USB cable to the OEM USB connector location, if you don't have this option installed. DIY available on the forum as well.
Eugen
Does the E box close properly with the USB cable and ground wire coming out of it? The box needs to be closed properly to prevent moisture entering.

Will this unit allow a user/tuner to access the maps for custom tuning? If it does, I'm sold.

Hi Omar
I very interesting with your product. Here at Montreal I can buy your product at Bimmershop.
What kind of gain and performance with your AA on stock stock car with 91 octane? No exhaust or everything...only stock.
For me the fiability is very very important.
Thanks for the answers

I got my AA processor installed today. Other than that the car has no other engine mods (so far) and it runs fantastic now. 2nd gear hauls ass and crusing in 6th at 80mph and stepping on the gas and you are at 120 in no time. It really is a vast difference.
Thanks Omar, AA v3 processor is a must!!

Well guys, i have everything by AA installed. The FMIC, BOV, Exhaust, and Processor, which were put in by my BMW techs. I AM SOOOO GLAD i went this route. It's been about a week since everything was finished. I drove my Bimmer normal till thursday, when i was left NO other choice...
GSP (Garden State Parkway) in NJ stretches from NY, exit 158 i think, south all the way to the bottom, exit 0. Around exit 13 til about 4 there are traffic lights, every exit is also a mile. At the light at exit 12 a red Vette all tinted pulled up next to me. I didn't look over, but he/she reved their engine. Light turned green, and they took off.
LET ME TELL YOU... I took off and once my 10" wide tires hooked, i cant believe how fast i reeled them in and just kept going. There was NO loss of any kind from any gear through 4th. The car just kept pulling.
This set-up fulls SOOOO good and strong. I just cant believe the power this thing is puttin to the ground. I was waitin for the Helix and using the AA till it came in, but the race definitley change my mind.
The reason i was just takin it easy was so the car was ease into the mods that were done and just wanted to make sure of no CELs.
On addition to the AA items, i also have RR DPs and GruppeM intake.
I am one happy MotherFer!!!
