For those of you who bought the 2008 M3 Enhanced Premium Sound System (752), how do you like it?

didn't think so...

for those who have listened to e9x M3 base system:
how does the base compare to the e46 M3 HK optional system?

(sorry for the slight thread hijack)

I just did back to back comparisons between my 06 330i with Logic 7 and my new M3 with Enhanced Audio using the same source material. I used my ipod on the first test, then switched to the cd using the same songs. With just the ipod, the difference is not that noticable until you really crank up the volume. The Enhanced Audio has more low end punch. With the cd source material, the difference is much more noticable, especially the vocals. With a little Dire Straits "So Far Away From Me", the hair on the back of my neck stood up.

Not sure the point of the poll... the logic 7 is not an option for the e9x M3. You either chose to have the standard non-logic 7 system or the Enhanced Premium sound.

Between those 2 there is no choice if you listen to music at all.

OP apparently did not realize Logic 7 is not an option on the M3.

Also, the $1900 premium sound price is a bit miseleading in that it does not factor in the fact that nav ($2100) is required for the premium sound.

If you want to hear the base radio, and no M3 is available, try a 328i (with no Logic 7 option). I am pretty certain they are the same 10 speaker system.

You are correct. So if the base radio is not the Logic7, what is it? The same as the base radio in a 335i or 328i without the Premium Package?

Same as the base radio in the 328i as far as I can tell, yes. I believe this could be (and probably has been) verified by looking at European info where every single conceivable option is allowed for all cars. I think the base radios have been verified to be the same actual physical units.

335i, FWIW, comes with Logic 7 as standard equipment. No need to spec the Premium Package or order it as a separate option.

Err, I have Logic 7 in my M3. Option 677 in the UK. We can have standard, Hifi (at £390), Logic 7 (at 820) and Individual (at £1435).

As I dont drive around with the music cracking the windows I felt the middle option would be fine for me. Went for DAB and USB though.

I'm debating whether or not to just pick the HiFi setup or go for the Logic 7. I just can't justify the £1435 on the Individual, enough though I am a music nut. My problem is that the amazingly brilliant B&O system in my S5 cost just over £500 and I just can't see the Individual being worth almost three times that.

I feel spending the extra on extended Fox Red leather as money better spent.

Right, yeah, we are talking US specs. We don't have Logic 7 available over here for the M3 unfortunately.

Thanks for that info. So the question the OP is basically asking just above (and which I am sure has been answered already but I am too lazy to search) is, is the base radio in the US for both the 328i and M3 the standard, or is it Hifi, or does one have standard and one have Hifi?

You get the following 4 options, only 2 are available in the USA

6 speaker base system (euro only)
10 speaker HI-FI (standard in the USA)
DSP/Logic 7 (Euro only)
Individual audio

I love to blast my music so personally I am quite pumped to hear this sound system! I went aftermarket in my 325i and I am glad I don't have to do the same on this one.

Ok thanks for that Garry. And since the HiFi is the only 10 speaker system of the bunch then it must indeed be the same system in the 328i and M3 as I had originally suggested above. I.e specs for both on BMWUSA are described as "ten speaker", so both are the HiFi.

So again, if anyone wants to hear the base M3 sound system and no base M3 is available to listen to, just find a non-Logic 7 equipped 328i which are probably also not very common but much more common than an M3 with base stereo, at least right now.

Here is a little more info on the top 3 sound systems:

- 676 Hi-Fi loudspeaker system (10 speaker system including Amplifier with vehicle specific equalizing) - Std in US
- 677 Hi-Fi speaker system with Professional DSP (Digital Sound Processor LOGIC 7 with 13 speakers) - NA in US
- 752 Enhanced Premium Sound (aka, Individual High-end Audio) system (16 speaker system with high-end amplifier (DIRAC) performance, optimised cooling system, unique speaker grilles) - $1,900 US

I went for the big bucks, but would have done Logic7 if available.
