Also you may be able to get it flush but you will always have that outline in the shape of the reflector. Take a look at the E92 335's painted reflectors. At least theirs is on the side and not as noticeable as our bumpers.

Hey guys, i know this may not be the right section but the reason i posted in here is because this area gets the most traffic, and it seems like not too many people visit the For Sale section since theres not too many things for sale yet.

Anyways, i just worked out a deal with Long Tran for a E90/E92 reflector group buy. These reflectors are OEM and will be painted to your color.

LongTran, a very well known and respected Moderator of e90post has these reflectors ON HAND and ready to paint.

If your not interested, its cool. No one is telling you to buy them, everyone needs to make money to feed their families and theres no free lunch. For the convince of having these shipped to me, painted, and to have a spare set of OEM reflectors in hand to me is worth it.

I remember him saying something special about the paint process or equipment... The ones I got from him for my old jet black reg e92 were a perfect match and quality finish, I think it was clear-coated.

Discussions/comments/opinions are fine but it only takes up space here, which the sole intention is for a group buy. A new thread can be made to discuss the pros/cons of each alternative. But this thread's purpose is for potential buyers of painted reflectors, not to turn into a debate of what alternative is better.

not all the reflectors are here. they are coming in when they get in. thats why i said the first batch. i ordered the reflectors before the m3 even hit the show room. its not easy getting those reflectors since the car is so new.

i went to check on the parts today and we ran into a problem. i tried making them nicer so i requested the DOT numbers sanded down. i guess sanding down the plastic was a bad idea. the paint is giving a bad reaction. plus the letter are sinked in now. i have to figure out how to fix this. sorry guys about the delay. here are the pics i took with my phone.

ouch ya I could have told you that. the plastic is to new and fresh so its trying to breath through the paint. Your getting a yellow bleed through the paint right?

only 3 options really

1.) 6 coats of paint to cover the bleed.

2.) paint none sanded (use scuff pads instead) numbers will stil be visible though

3.) sand, primer, blocksand, primer prep, paint

Got my reflectors from Evosport today. Quality is very nice--no sign of the raised lettering.

R&R as follows:
1) Press in on the bunper cover just below the reflector with you thumb until a couple of the bottom tabs "pop" free.
2) Using the purchase you have gained, force the reflector upward hard, compressing the top springs, then rotate the bottom out and free. The reflecgtor will come out.
3) Installation is pretty much the reverse, though it is slightly harder due to the flimsiness of the cover. You will need to force the new reflector upward to compress the top springs, then rotate the bottom in.

From what I understand Long is not a manufacturer and he does not get his "painted reflectors" from a manufacturer. He custom paints each set. These OEM BMW reflectors are not as avalible as you might expect. From my understanding it takes at least 1 weeks time to get a set from BMW. Again not talking for Long but just what I have heard from dealers. Keep in mind that a order as large as this group buy isnt just painted over night.

I agree however updates or pm's from Long would be helpful. Delays or getting the wrong products from BMW are also part of the business. I can speak for myself and say I have no problem waiting for a quality product and think the other members can too. Most of us had to wait a long time for our M3 and some are still waiting. So waiting is not the problem. I just like to know often, what stage we are at. It's kind of like looking at the OC website or calling the 800# once week to get an update. I don't think that's an unreasonable request.

My advice: go with a professional dealer.

I know Longtran means well, but this is becoming a bad joke. Supply problems, bleed through in the painting, shipping errors, delays.

Not worth it to save a few bucks, IMO.

I will take some photo's of my progress today. the flush mount ones that I am working on right now are not painted, are green and they already look better then my AW painted reflectors. I will snap a shot today when I get to the shop after work. but its comming along. I have found that I will need to include touch up paint with the flush mount because BMW decided to cut the holes for the reflectors after painting the bumpers so the cut is black and can be touched up. This will be included with every purchase as well.
