No sir. Hopefully soon! :D

have you tried this on your car james? any errors or anything?

No I haven't, but I plan to get one soon.. the smoked one. Keep my car as dark as I can lol :P But yeah, I'd assume the product being sold wouldn't give out error messages because that would be a pain for them.

Cool. I possibly figured that. But then my next question is just how much brighter are they compared to stock? I'll admit, the stock sidemarkers are pretty bright already. Are the LEDs considerably or much more noticably brighter than the standard 194 wedge bulb?

Honestly, I haven't had personal experiences with these, so I can't tell you...But I can already imagine them being just as bright or even brighter.. but like mentioned, we'll just have to wait for those who purchased it to chime in :)

Alright guys, so apparently I was the first to receive and install these gems, so a few POIs:

- First and foremost, GREAT service from James and the team and ModBargains, a BIG  to them.
- No Errors
-VERY easy to install (More detailed DIY than the one already posted in the DIY section coming)
- Bright with an excellent amber colour
-They do flicker for ~5 seconds while your car starts up. (This is because your car is sending micro-pulses to each of the bulbs to check that it is not blown. These pulses are too low to illuminate a regular bulb. However, because the LEDs draw less power, they blink for a faction of a second during this test. – No biggie, and nothing to worry about)
So without further adue, what you've all been waiting for:

http://www.bojan.savic.ca/MB_e90_LED_Side.png

http://www.bojan.savic.ca/MB_e90_LED_Side_I.png

BONUS! :D http://www.bojan.savic.ca/MB_e90_LED_Side.avi

Savicbo
P.S. I know the car is FILTHY! but I didn't see a point washing it before the mods (did 3 mods today) as it would just get dirty during the install process for the other mods (Charcoal filter and HID fogs....)

Very Nice. A few questions:

1. Can you put these side-by-side with the old ones, for a picture comparison?

2. The LED light looks more yellow in comparison to the corner light - is this true?

3. The LED appears very distinct and bright. With the stock sidemarker, the light appeared to come from the entire light housing more than the LED, in which the LED light is more distinct. Is this true?

4. Could someone show a picture of the smoke next to the blacklines? I would like to see how the unlit color compares to the blackline smoke. (I used to have a nice smoked out jetta, with all of the lights matching.)

Thanks and I look forward to the DIY - I don't want to mess anything up.

Coming Up

2. The LED light looks more yellow in comparison to the corner light - is this true?

Yep, the LEDs are slightly yellower

3. The LED appears very distinct and bright. With the stock sidemarker, the light appeared to come from the entire light housing more than the LED, in which the LED light is more distinct. Is this true?

Exactly true, the LEDs emit a very distinct light, and with a completely clear housing, you see them light up and not the whole housing like on the OEMs. I haven't compared their brightness to the OEMs at night yet, but I do believe they are, at the very least slighty, brighter.

4. Could someone show a picture of the smoke next to the blacklines? I would like to see how the unlit color compares to the blackline smoke. (I used to have a nice smoked out jetta, with all of the lights matching.)

I can get us white illuminating LEDs, but I need enough interest and willing participants--and the most crucial, time. So if you want one, and you're interested, let me know.. or make a list or something. I'll try my best to make it happen!

Any guidance on how to get the existing sidemarker off? I slipped a credit card underneath, felt a little resistance as I began to pull, then pussed out.

Do I just need to grab a sack and continue pulling?

Spazdoc
04-03-2008, 03:05 PM
If you look at the sidemakers, you will notice the metqal spring and the plastic tab. The credit card is used to separate the sidemarker from the body as you slide it a little bit. You should them push the sidemarker towards the prings, so that you can release the plastic tab. You then should be able to get the sidemarker out by gently pulling.

Also, when you disconnect the light from the wiring, make sure the wiring does not fall behind the panel!

Thanks for the hand-holding, Spaz.

Just did the install and it wasn't so bad. And I actually broke one of the tabs when removing the bulb assembly from the OEM housing - however, it's immaterial since the tab is not needed to attach the LED sidemarker.

Just got my set however the socket totally not match from the car! mine is 08 E92 Jan production. Here are some pic on the socket of my car:

not sure if the install is much different from the sedan but the install for the sedan went like this...

-remove side marker from vehicle (slide towards back of the car and lift front end of stock marker outward. popped right out)
-disconnect side marker (black clip from white plastic bulb housing connected to stock side marker)
-you should now be left with the OEM side marker in hand with white bulb socket connected
-you have to lift the white clip just enough to be able rotate the bulb socket and remove it with bulb attached (the clip is really fragile for some reason so be careful :))
-the bulb should be exposed. you can now put the stock side marker housing away because you're done with it.
-now remove the bulb from the socket and keep it with your stock side markers just in case you wanna go back to stock
-reconnect the white bulb socket back to the black clip on the vehicle (the black clip has numbers "1" and "2" on it so match it correctly to the "1" and "2" on the white bulb housing)
-now where the old bulb used to be, thats where you plug in the new Led side marker into (be sure to match the brown wire to the same side as the brown wire on the car)
-i tested to make sure everything worked at this point and it did so i just placed all the excess wiring back into the side marker hole and slid it back into place.
-repeat for other side and enjoy :)

Thanks for all those picture contributions! Mind if we use those? :D

As for the installation issue--that's odd... I haven't heard any issues yet about that.. but hopefully using DirtyMcDirt's instructions will help you out. If not, feel free to post and we'll work together to get it done for you :)

DO you have smoked ones that flash white? Can we just swap the bulbs to white or is there something else that is needed?

The LED bulb comes with the Smoked sidemarker, so they illuminate orange only. If you really want it to illuminate white, it's possible, I talked to the distributor already. But...we need enough interest/deposit/buyers and a lot of patience because they told me it would take a while.
