Guys,

When I took delivery here in Texas, the weather was awful (heavy rain etc.), so I had the dealer hold off on doing a full exterior detail until a nicer day. They did a full clean on the car though, inside and outside.

The car just needs a solid detail, but I'm wondering if instead of taking it back to the dealer if I should just have a 3rd party do it? I have a guy who washes and waxes my cars for me and he does full detail work for car shows etc. I trust him, I would just need to pay. So I guess I'm asking, do I have the dealer do it or pay my guy to do it? I'm wondering if there is any advantage to having the dealer do it.

You know you can trust your guy, but with the dealer you never know. I'm probably the wrong person to ask though - I'm taking mine before they can detail it.

+1. My E46 M3 had always come back from the dealer service dept. in worse condition than when it went in, detailing-wise.

BTW, mantis, not true. Mine is bigger.

Never, and I mean NEVER let the deailership detail your car when you take it in for service. It becomes quite complex why, but basically they use shitty products with even worse applacation.
