Picked up my new BLACK E92 - Etched Water Spots - HELP!

Well i finally did it, picked up my JB E92 today!! Got home tonight and was admiring her in the garage.

Unfortunately I found etched water spots ALL over the front hood area (probably on the bumper too!!)

Seems like the detailer just went over it and didn't work on the spots.. plus he put some fine swirls in the paint in the process.

Do i go back to the dealer and risk having them further ruin the paint?? Should i just tell them and take it to a REAL detailer? Or just try it myself?

DAMN. such a good feeling bringing the car home and such a CRAPPY feeling seeing all those spots that may not come out that easily.

ok - so after a good nights sleep i decided to grab my claybar and give it a go. Looks like after some good rubbing and a little polish - the spots are coming out and things are looking better.

now i'm off to spend the next two days dealing with this..

but this will help me get acquainted..

Good luck! Next time you get a new car don't let the dealer do anything to it. Oh and welcome to jet black I guess.

next time try using a water spot remover for boats such as Ducky. I think it mostly vinager but it does remove spots on boats and cars. good stuuf.

Use the water spot remover like the guy above said. It works great when detailing it off.

As far as the swirls....well...welcome to black paint. You could've gone one step worse and gotten the red(the softest paint). Claybars, wax, and some soft cloth's should do the trick. Just remember to keep that wax on, mang.

Red paint is "soft"? How's that?

It's just how it's made. The hardest paint to chip/scratch is white with silver close to it. The easiest is red then black.

for swirls - hand wax and only apply the wax in one direction. after waxing lightly mist ths car with quick detail - that seems to work for me.

how do you figure that? i would think that color would have nothing to do with durability...the color is only an additive right? the compounds are all essentially the same as far as resiliency goes. ????

Here are the things I would try:

1. Clay
2. Chemicalguys water spot remover
3. Polish


Make sure you use a good wax and/or and sealant to prevent this from happening again!

Aye...but this is what I'm talking about as far as how it's actually applied. Different colors need different applications...

thanks - been using zaino to work on the swirls.. now they're only really visible in the bright spots of sunlight but very light. i think with some more work they'll be barely noticeable.

with everyone taking amazing photos of their cars, i'm looking for a good spot to take some myself. Hope to have some pics up soon!
