Update 6/17: BACK IN STOCK, SHIPPING NOW!
Hey guys,
I'm pleased to announce we've added another product to our lineup! The BMS dual intake.
Our dual intake features quality S&B inverted cone filters and matching black anodized aluminum couplers. Our couplers are perfectly sized to allow a smooth transition from the velocity stack at the bottom of the filter to the turbo inlet, resulting in less turbulence than the sharp transitions you may see on other intakes out there.
Installation is similar to our BMS filter, although getting the filters lined up just right takes additional time. Performance between the two is similar. In my mind it really comes down to a style and aesthetics question that every customer will have to answer for themselves.
We are offering this setup at the introductory price of $129 + shipping.
Also... This thing is LOUD!!! :D Turbo spooling and blow off noises galore!
Forgive the very dirty engine bay... :)

Some info on s&b filters...
Over 30 years ago S&B Filters started with a simple mission – “to become a manufacturer of the most technically advanced high performance filter on the market.” Our commitment to the race community allowed us to develop products that featured the incredibly high efficiency ratings and tremendously low air flow restriction.
We busted knuckles with the best engine builders of the day to deliver a product that supplied what they were craving – a filter that delivered performance advantages without sacrificing engine protection. We succeeded by keeping our production capabilities on the front-edge of technology, and never, ever wavering from our goal of producing a high performance air filter that tests better than any other manufacturer. And even today we are pushing the other manufacturers to test to our standards.
Exceptional design, leading-edge manufacturing and a commitment to thorough research and development has allowed us to make several advancements within the high performance category.

I really hate the vendors of these forums (not rixter). They are all so dishonest. First terry released the DIY intake to underhand shiv. Then sees the possibility of profit. But he can't make profit off the DIY filter because obviously people can DIthemselves for cheaper. So he has K&N make some weird ass filter and spouts some BS about it being lower so it intakes less hot air yada yada bla bla bla. And clearly it worked since I know of at least a few people who bought it instead of doing the DIY for half the price. Until they started failing.
Then shiv releases his dual cone filter kit for a hefty price. People start buying it.
Terry sees this so of course he releases his own, despite his current filter supposedly being "superior".
Now shiv is in this thread talking about how it's a 2.25 inch coupler not 3 like it makes any dam difference at all. Does anyone really think it makes a difference if the diameter reduces to 2.25 inches in the filter body itself or the coupler? It doesn't in case anyone did wonder.
Finally both party are selling them for double the price you could make them for yourself (BMS filters are cheaper then the K&Ns shiv uses which is why his is cheaper, but still double the price of what you could buy the parts for RETAIL.)
These S&B filters are 30$ each RETAIL and the couplers can be had for 5$ for the pair at your local auto zone. I know this because I built one myself a LONG time ago.

Oh well either way, the point is the same just that instead of both being 100% markup he might be even more.

Why does the online store list the BMS and the Dual Cone as "all sales final" "due to the nature of the product?" Does the 14-day money back not apply to these, but it does to the JB products? If so, I'm curious how come?

Because the filters cannot be returned after they are opened... filters are considered a consumable item. The filters are not made by BMS like the jb2 is, they are S&B filters. (or k&n on the single).
we still have over 10 in stock as of this writing.

Thanks for the update. Does this mean that you don't warrant the products for their ability to fit in the e90 (e.g., without rubbing) or against the tearing/coupler failures of the BMS?

Of course we would step in if any situations arose... We always take care of our customers! We stand behind our products. That line is more of a way to protect us from people that would want to take advantage of us and send back used/dirty filters...

working on it... but it will be very close to the BMS intake videos and dyno at www.rixeffects.com
The blow-off noise on the dual cone is louder.

so the dyno on your site is solely of the intakes effect on power rite? meaning there's no other mods on the car?

All that info is written next to the dyno sheet on the webpage:
BMS filter vs. factory airbox, best of three runs done back to back with each. Testing done at 14psi with the JB2HR. All TQ and HP values are AT THE WHEELS. Add 15% to account for driveline losses.
In other words, the car is tuned with a jb2hr. The graphs you see have 2 lines, which are before and after the filter, with the same mods... only change is the filter kit.

update with some additional info...:
the size of the opening on our filters is sized propery with the size of the stock intake tubing... this creates a smoother transition (see photo)... but unlike our competitors, our filters are the only ones to include a velocity stack at the bottom of the filter, which creates the largest possible opening and smoothest possible transition for the air as it moves into the coupler.
