No experience of this as I haven't even picked up my car yet, but would be interested to hear what happens if the dealers tell you anything.

turbo's can't "reset".. if there is a problem with your engine you should take it into the dealership and have them find it.. if the problem comes and goes, and you don't hear very bad noises (loud humming under heavy engine load, which indicates a failing turbo) coming from the engine bay you likely have another problem.

Are you sure it's the turbo? It may be a problem with the catalyser.

I have read of their being a problem with the activation valve on early production cars (March/April/May). The car would feel powerfull/not powerfull sporadically.
Maybe give your service dept a call - and explain it all to them. They might know.

had the same problem with my E90 320d... sometimes powerfull and from time to time not powerfull....
SO I told this to my garage and guess what.... they told me they know the problem with the turbo. They have to change it now (in garantee of course). The problem is with a wire in the turbo wich is fault. As they told me, the computer of the car (engine) is giviing information to the turbo and in this case sometimes it is not understood well by the compressor.
So they will change it next week and the problem should be solved!

yes there are currently 3 diesel e90's to be had 118d, 320d, and 330d, the 330d makes a mockery of the 330i, nearly as quick to 60 mph, cliamed 42 mpg but really 36 mpg but more torque than a 545i, still with limited 155 mph

Year ago, our dealer's demo 320d had a faulty turbo and had to be replaced. I believe there was something wrong with the variable geometry system of the turbo.
No wonder that the engine felt laggy during the test-drive. :)

I contacted my dealer and they know the problem... from the moment I said I had problems with acceleration....
I should be something with the turbo and the connection to the main computer system in the car. They are not communicating well... so next thursday my turbo will be changed (on warranty).. AND I HOPE THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED!

E90 320d, brand new, 1900km, the problem started appearing at 1500-1600km.
after driving about 30km, engine off for about 2-3 hours, when I drove off....omfg?! this ain't bmw!!! it's a clio...no torque, no feeling of getting sucked into the chair...nothing..
I have the same problem. I think it's due to the fuel or due to the turbine, but the fuel wouldn't cause the 'scratching of a tire against sand' noise when I rev the engine.
The problem is random, sometimes when I start the engine it would have torque and great acceleration, and sometimes it's like a Renault...wtf?!
Also the problem doesn't appear after a long drive, massive speed etc....or nor does it appear when the engine is cool or hot.
I'm guessing I'm not the lucky one to have a faulty wire cause of the MECHANICAL noise that I hear when I rev the engine above 2000rpm, and the noise dissapears when it comes to rilanty (800-900smt rpm).
I'm taking the car to the service on friday, hope it will be taken cared of fast.
