I did this simple mod on my X3 35i and it actually sounds pretty good - louder, bassier and more aggressive, and from the video clearly more so on an M3. Mine does drone at highway speeds in Normal but doesn't in Sport or Sport + which is what I use anyway. Takes almost no time and is completely reversible if you don't like it.
