But since I'm back in the US now castrol edge 5w30
But I tried castrol 0w40 European formula my last oil change about 2 weeks ago and I think the car runs a little harsher at least when idling it seems to have a more distinct vibration and almost a metallic sound.
Anyone experience something similar?
I think I'm going to switch back to castrol 5w30 this weekend.
Also I add a small bottle of liquimoly anti friction usually during the oil change or a week or two after when I go to an auto parts store (I think one bottle is supposed to be for 5 liters or oil but I found it does the job for 6 and change.

I've been using Castrol 0W-40 older LL01 approved stock. Runs fine. I did experience more vis degradation from a UOA than I expected given really low miles.
? I think it might be b/c I run short trips too often?
I'll try olive oil only if it's from Kalamata olives.

that's the good stuff!!
I just did the OFHG and changed back To castrol edge edge 5w30 and the idle has noise and vibration has gotten a lot better :
I know the 0w40 or 0w30 is better in winter but call me crazy, I feel like my car runs better on 5w30 -_-

That is the stock oem oil isn't it?

I don't know if the castrol edge still has the LL-01 or LL04 certification ( I don't know which one is for US and which is for EU)
But the cap on the car says bmw recommends castrol and I think the owner manual says 5w30 grade.
What are you using out of curiosity?

Currently running BMW's high performance oil. I think it is the LL01 5w30 (or 0w30). I bought a case a while back when it was on sale at a decent price. My car and the wife's Mini Cooper just run better on it vs the other brands I've tried. Smoother
