I've been contemplating deleting the native phone app from the unit, and trying another (like the stock google phone app perhaps). It seems like when the Avin phone app takes over, it forces itself on top of Android Auto's bluetooth connection. This is also why I don't have AA's navigation up when I'm on the phone, which is really annoying.
I'll try the customer service chat today and report back. In the meantime, I'm going to try and see what the AVIN unit's android settings allow for on changing the default phone app.

This is weird. I am not an android user, but when using CarPlay on my Avon unit, all calls route through the CarPlay phone app, even when one moves away from the CarPlay interface.
