I was there for an early preview and the windscreen glass from the inside actually falls slightly under the front bonnet (that darkened portion) , and allows the projection display to work very well. It also allows the dash to be positioned lower and gives the interior a much more spacious "feel".

The lower side windows also add to the "illusion" that the windscreen is actually lower than it is.
